How You Can Sell Products Through Using Internet Auctions - WITHOUT EVER PUTTING THE PRODUCT ON THE AUCTION BLOCK!

Here’s a successful technique that we’ve seen - we have noticed on the auction sites that people seem to be more open to something that’s very specific and hand-written, even if they don’t know who you are, than they would be if you just sent them an e-mail, out of the blue, offering to sell an item.

Here’s a neat trick we’ve seen that works: you have an item that is very similar or the exact same thing that has just sold on an auction. You’re watching that item. Look and see if it’s for sale, if someone else has sold it - watch who bid the second lowest and didn’t win.

Then, e-mail them an offer that you have the same item and you’d be happy to sell it to them for the same price as the other one went for. We’ve actually bought items this way when we were the second highest bidders and didn’t get the item . . . but the guy e-mailed us and said, “Hey, I have one of those and I was just getting ready to put it online. Would you be willing to pay what you bid for that item?”

This is an excellent way to introduce prospects to items that are similar. You can do that in jewelry, for example. If somebody’s bidding on a certain size of ring, you could say, “I have a different one, let me send you a photo of it.” You can actually market some of this stuff through Internet auctions - WITHOUT EVER PUTTING THE PRODUCT ON THE AUCTION BLOCK!

Three Elements You Must Have To Succeed With Your Mail-Order Business!

The mail-order business requires three elements to be successful. You can make a lot of money by simply having three things:

1. A new or unique product that is in demand by consumers and not available on a large scale in retail outlets. Why would a prospect buy something from you if they can just go to a store and get it? To many people, it is more of a hassle to go through mail-order rather than buy it in a store. Mail ordering requires the prospect to fill out an order form, write a check, address and stamp an envelope, mail the envelope, and wait a few weeks to get what they ordered. In a store, though, they can simply drive there, find it, buy it, and it’s theirs. This is why it is important to always try to come up with something that isn’t available in stores but could still be very valuable to the market you are serving.

2. A basic understanding of how mail order works. Nothing can replace a basic understanding of how the system works. Also, you must realize that mail-order marketing is a life-long study to find the products and services that sell to the market the best. To get started, start testing and start learning. Then keep testing and learning as you go.

A Simple Way To Get More People To Respond To Your Offer!

Simplicity is a simple way to get more people to respond to your offer. The easier it is for people to respond, the more likely it is that they will respond.

If your customer reads your sales letter, and is really excited, then gets to the order form, what happens? You could start out with 1,000 people who read your sales letter. Then, if they have to mail in the order, some will drop out. If they have to put a stamp on it, still more will drop out. Then, if they actually have to get it to the post office, still more will drop out. You will have lost a lot of people along the way who intended to order your product.

Think of how many sales you could have saved if the customer could have simply picked up the phone and called with their credit card. The answer is that quite a lot of those sales could have been saved!
Whatever product you are marketing, make sure that you have as many ways as possible for your customers to respond. The three most common ways to accept orders are:

1. By Mail - with either cash, check, money-order, or credit card.
2. By Phone - with credit card
3. By Fax - with credit card.

Some companies now even accept checks by fax and phone! In the future, there will be more and more ways for you to make it easier to accept orders. Right now people are starting to use the Internet! In closing, you should try to come up with as many ways as possible to take your customer’s order! The more options they have, the more money you will make!

Paper And Ink Products Can Make You A Millionaire! Sell Them For 10 Times Their Cost!

You may be asking yourself how this is possible. The information of that paper and ink product is worth all of the money, not the paper and ink itself.

Take for example a famous painting. Some paintings sell for millions of dollars. Some are even considered priceless. But the painting’s worth is not derived from the cost of the canvas, frame, or paint that makes up the painting. It’s the feeling that the finished product gives to people who see it that establishes its worth. If someone really likes the painting, they are willing to pay a lot for it. If someone doesn’t like the painting, they are not willing to pay much for it, if anything at all.

They Might Have Lost The Bidding, But He Has What They Wanted, And He’ll Sell It To Them!

His particular interest was antique furniture and the Disney collectibles that are so popular. First of all, he sat down and made a list of all the antique furniture dealers that he knew of in Southern California, all the Sunday swap meets, all the specialty dealers and collectors he knew, and over a period of time he visited all those people. He saw what they had, made notes, saw what they specialized in, what items they featured, and the kind of items they bought or received.

Remember, this was an area he was already interested in. And he put all that data into his computer and made a database to start to refer to. Then he started his weekly routine.

Every day, he gets up in the morning, sits down at the computer, and he goes to the auction. He sees, in the category that he is interested in, what people have put up for bid. He makes note of what the items are, and then he looks at his list, and he sees if he has anything like that on his list.

Then, in the afternoon, he goes shopping. He makes the rounds of the stores that he is familiar with, and the dealers, and he looks for the items he has seen placed on the auction sites.

Now, he comes back, enters all this into his computer and keeps track of it. Then, when the auction closes, he knows what the top bidders are, what sold, but more importantly, he knows who the losing bidders were.

Now he contacts by e-mail every one of the losing bidders. He says, “I know you really want this item badly, and I have a similar item for sale. Would you be willing to pay what the top bidder paid for that item?” And time, and time, and time again, they say “absolutely.” He then goes to his dealer, picks up the item, or has it shipped to them.

He works it day in, day out, week in, week out. It has turned into a full time business for him. It has been so profitable, he has quit his professional job and he spends his entire time tracking the bids, going to the shops that he loves to go to, and finding duplicate items, because most of the stuff sold is not rare collectibles. Most of the stuff sold on the auctions had many thousands made, and particularly if you’re in a major market like Southern California, you can find those items in stores.

He can find enough similar and duplicate items that he is able to turn it into a full time business. But there is also a bonus because at the same time he is collecting names of people he knows has these particular interests. He knows what they are looking for.

So as he shops, and he comes across these items, he’ll contact previous bidders and say, “I know you bought such and such a lamp. You favor such and such kind of chairs, and I have such and such. What would you be willing to pay for it?”

He plays both ends against the middle, selling to losers in auction bidding.

One Compelling Sales Message Plus One Mouse Click Could Equal Money In The Bank!

This is one of the most popular ways to promote a web site - banner ads, banner advertising. Banner ads, for the uninitiated, are just small graphic designs that advertise a web site. The power of them is you can put some really compelling sales messages into a banner ad and, if somebody just clicks on that banner ad, it takes them directly to your web site.

One compelling sales message plus one mouse click could equal money in the bank!

You can work these banner ads up into banner exchanges where they are free, you get free banner displays on other people’s web sites for displaying their banner ads on your web sites, you can swap banners one on one with others and you can buy banner placement on some of the bigger, hot web sites.

You can do this free! You can design a nice web site and actually advertise your web site for free using this banner in exchanges or trades, or if you have a little money, you can buy banner placement. Banner ads are very popular!

The problem is getting people to click on that banner, because there are a lot of banners out there. You need to trick people into reading your banner ad. Not only that, but there is even one more step – how to trick them into clicking on it, because even if they read it, if they don’t click on it it’s not going to take them to your site.

The real trick is to make a banner ad look like part of a web site. It’s that simple. That’s one of the best tricks we’ve seen. Make it look like a bar, or a miniature windows-style button or window into a little piece into another program. The best way to do that is to use a form with “click here” buttons or like actual check boxes you can click on.

For example, this is a neat banner ad we’ve seen used before. It asks, “How much do you want to make? Click here.” Along the bottom of the banner ad is $10,000 with a little box beside it, $25,000, $100,000, $1 Million, with little boxes beside them. It actually entices the reader -“Well I want to make $1 Million.”

It doesn’t matter which box they click on, it doesn’t matter if they missed the box entirely, now they’re clicking on your banner. It takes them to your web site, where it starts telling them how they can make $10,000, $25,000, or even $1 Million by following these instructions.

So you design the ad to actually entice the user into clicking there, or to make it look like a scroll down window with text under it, and they have to click on the little scroll bar to read more.

This is another neat trick - the text is an enticing message like, “I’m going to give you all the tips and tricks on how you can make more money next year – it’s really easy, all you have to do is…” And the text ends there. There’s a little scroll bar along the side there like you see on so many web sites or on programs that you run on your computer and you click on the little scroll bar to try to read more. What it does, you’re clicking on the banner to read more, and it takes them to the web site where they can read more. Again, it’s tricking them into it, getting them to actually participate and actually click on the ad.

The real trick, though, is you also have to make that banner attract their attention, so you want to work some of the other neat tricks in for catching the eye, making them see it and read it. For this, one of the best techniques, one of the highest-rated techniques we’ve seen, is some form of animation. That really helps. For example, a simple flashing background color, or a word or two that flashes is very nice, because if that banner appears on someone else’s web site with 5 other banners on that same page, yours has something flashing. It automatically attracts the eye. We’re attracted to flashing and glimmers and movement of some kind.

A little more complex technique is to actually change the copy. You can have copy scroll up and finish a sentence, or words that flash up half a sentence and then flash again and change to the other half of the sentence. It’s not much harder than making a flashing background or color, but you basically have two banners that swap out in an animation sequence.

Again, this actually allows you to get more information and more enticing sales copy into a very small space which is all you’ve got with a banner. But it also attracts the eye, so it kills two birds with one stone.

Even more complex, if you’re daring or you want to pay someone to do it, is some kind of moving characters or actual animation – something that runs across the banner. For example, on the checklist form we covered earlier, we’ve seen these checklists with an actual pointer, similar to the cursor you see on your screen, moving from check box to check box. That way, it’s actually telling you to check here, or check here, or check here. It’s also attracting your eye, telling you what to do, and you tend to follow it and click on one of them.

We have seen these techniques increase response to a banner ad from 30% to 75% - that much increase in the number of people who actually click on the banners and move to your web site through them.

The other thing to remember is there are certain key words to use through your copy. These key words work in sales literature, and these same key words work in banner ads marvelously. There are a few of them that always attract the eye and always make someone want to click to see what is behind them.

One of those words, of course, is a four letter word – FREE. Anything free is going to be attracting to people. Anything you can give people free in return for clicking here, you’ll increase the number of people who actually see the banner and click on it. The other word is WIN. People like to find out how they can win things because, again, it implies that they are free.

EARN MORE has been proven in banner ad after banner ad to generate more click-throughs. The other one, believe it or not, is dollar signs. Any dollar signs on a banner ad can increase the click-through rate, which means the number of people that see the banner and actually click on it.

Direct-response marketing is simple. When you’re a small business just starting out there shouldn’t be anything complicated for you to wade through. There is another way you can do this without even having to actually “work a deal” with the store. This can work great with antique stores. You can actually go spot out products that you know are selling. You just go in and maybe take some notes or keep mental notes of the products that are selling well on the auction sites. Then you go locally to your own area and you can find either an antique store or a small retail store that sells those kinds of products.

Make a note as to what the products are selling for. Look for low price, where someone is selling it for less than it could be sold for on the Internet. Maybe even just ask them what their rock bottom price is. A lot of antique dealers will be willing to work a deal with you if you’ll chew them down a little bit on the price.
