Well, unfortunately, even once you have a web site it’s important to do advertising to promote it and to pull traffic in. Certainly you might have some people just stumbling onto your web site automatically, but why rely on that when you can actually build up your traffic? And as you’re building up that traffic on a daily basis, you are building up your profit.
There are two secrets to building up some really great traffic. The first secret is: be consistent. You need to do something consistently every single day to promote your web site and to build your traffic. This can be in 15 minutes a day, 30 minutes a day, an hour a day, or whatever. But you need to be consistent and do something every single day.

The second secret is: diversify. Don’t focus on only one type of advertising. Don’t think you’re only going to need to be on search engines, or you’re only going to send press releases.

It is a good idea to do a little bit of advertising in a lot of different avenues. For example, you might want to go out and really focus for a week on search engines. Then you might want to go place a few banner ads. You might want to go to a few other sites and get some link lists. Visit some sites and get some free classified ads out there. You might find some web sites that are similar to yours, and get some reciprocal links. You might want to place some ads in e-zines. You might even want to do some direct mail and send out some postcards. But we feel it is very important that if you want to be successful in building traffic to your web site, that you diversify and you pull in traffic from a lot of different avenues instead of focusing on one. And it is very important to be consistent.

We’ve talked to too many people who either do no marketing and they think people are just going to stumble onto their site, and then they are going to make money that way, or they do marketing for maybe thirty days, and then they stop completely.

The Internet is constantly growing. People are constantly coming aboard, and some of the advertising you do is going to wear out, so you are going to need to change it, you are going to need to re-post some ads. It is very important to be consistent.

Now, as we already stated, it’s not important to do it for two hours a day, or five hours a day, or whatever. You can really do it in 15 - 30 minutes a day in your spare time. If you are doing this while you are working, you can do it before you go to work, after you come home from work in the evening, or whenever, as long as you do it consistently.
Doing something consistently like that will add up and over time you’re going to build your traffic. It might start out as a slow trickle of traffic to your web site. People coming in, looking around, maybe buying a product or two. But if you are consistent, and you use some of these different avenues to advertise, that small trickle can turn into a stream. Therefore, what you need to do with your auto-responders is offer something interesting, even if it’s a thinly disguised sales pitch. You could have ten tips on how to catch more fish. “I’m going fishing with my son - WOW! - Ten tips on how to catch more Schnook Salmon this season. Wow! Okay, I want to read that. I could sit down with my son, go online and get that.”

And, of course, at the end of those ten tips, or at the end of each tip you could say “To read more, see our book Everything You Want To Know About Catching The Big One.” And so as you’re getting the information, you’re also being, in a subtle way, persuaded to purchase.

You need to offer something of value and, generally, it is information with an auto-responder.

What our newsletter friend did was he made a sample newsletter issue. He printed it up and he mailed it to lists. People read it, and said “Well, gee, here’s an actual sample of something in the mail. I’m not buying blindly. I’m not buying on faith. I’ve seen an issue and I like it.” And if they didn’t like it, they didn’t waste his time.

He has an almost zero refund rate because people have already taken a look at his product. They’ve seen his style, they’ve seen the content, and they've seen the layout. If you want the newsletter, you can make up your mind in the comfort of your own home after reading the sample issue.”

People really like it. It is non-threatening.

You don’t have to worry about getting the envelope opened, because there is no envelope. When you get a postcard, you take a look at the front and then you flip it over to the back to see what it is. If the message is short enough, you have read half of it before you realize it.

We just cannot fathom the number of websites we visit and critique that don’t have compelling headlines! They don’t have any sizzling, hot, enticing copy that gets you involved in the website. There is no irresistible offer.

The first thing those people are going to see when they load up your website is your headline. If the website’s headline doesn’t grab their attention - if it doesn’t excite them or make them curious and pull them into that webpage’s copy - then you might as well kiss most of those visitors goodbye without a sale!

You need to take a look at your website and make sure that you do have some enticing, powerful copy and compelling headlines. With websites you should use short copy, but we’ve found through our website that long form copy does work better. You need to tell your whole story and give compelling reasons to buy your product.

Here’s another trick that works really well when you do have compelling copy . . . once you get the person to your website and they’re involved already through the copy on your website, (a point in your copy where it’s really, really compelling) make them click a button to go to a next page, but in order for them to get to the next page they’ve got to fill in their e-mail address and name.

That way you capture their e-mail address and name. Then you can e-mail them future announcements or future advertisements about the particular product or service they were reading about on your website. It’s a good way to capture names and to market to them in the future at no cost.

In this article I am going to cover five secrets of creating a memorable domain name that will stick in your prospect’s mind so they can remember you and return again and again.

1. Keep the name simple
This step is really the simple one. We get carried away sometimes with domain names and try to make them very complicated and elaborate. The more we do, the more difficult they are to remember!

The ideal domain name is a very short name. Short names are easy to remember. It should be a single word, but, unfortunately, most of the single word domain sites are long gone. Sites like Books.com or Accountants.com disappeared years ago. They are either in use or being held out for a big sale.

These days you don’t have those kinds of choices, but you still need to try to keep it as simple and clean as you can. You want to make certain it’s easy to spell. It doesn’t matter if it is easy to remember; if people don’t know how to spell it, you’re still in trouble.

I was working on a site recently where the key word was therapist. The problem with the word therapist is the fact that people can remember it, but when they have to spell it they are in trouble! You want to select a name that people can spell as well as remember!

2. Make certain that it has no hyphens in the name
Currently having hyphens in a domain name is very popular because it opens up a whole new window of opportunity for getting domain names. With hyphens you can get some domains that you wouldn’t be able to get otherwise because the single names are gone.

The problem steps in if you do radio advertising, being interviewed on a program, or have any word of mouth promoting your site. When the web address (or URL) gets pronounced, the hyphen tends not to get used. It is hard to say, “It is accountant hyphen something else.”

In the end the prospects will end up at the site of your competitor who doesn’t have a hyphen, but is selling the product that you’re selling... and you lose. Therefore, do your best to keep it simple, understandable, and easy to remember.

3. If you’re in business for the long haul you need to avoid clichés
Right now words like cyber, digital, tech, etc. are very much in vogue - but they are words of the 90's. If you plan to be in business for the long haul, you don’t want to be stuck with a name that is very identifiable as only strong and viable in a certain time period... especially when that period will eventually become the past. Therefore, it is to your best interest not to choose a trendy name.

4. Don’t name your company after your web site address
There is a current trend of naming companies such-and-such dot com. That is very short-sighted!
The experts are saying that it won’t be long because the majority of the businesses are online and doing business online. You want to be known for the name of your company, not just a .com company, because by then everybody will be a .com, or the equivalent.

5. Come up with unexpected combinations
These are like other coined words in the Internet industry such as Yahoo and eBay. Amazon is not a coined word, but it is an unusual application of the word. By using the word amazon, they were trying to convey size - amazons are big according to legend, after all.

Blue Thumb is another good example. Green Thumb is common, but Blue Thumb sticks in your mind because it is different.

First of all, the marketer is able to paint a picture of themselves as a common person, just like his or her prospects before he or she found their route to success. “They’re just like me, and they found what I’m looking for . . . what they have to offer me MUST work, it worked for them!” The prospects quickly identify with the marketer, and this leads to trust in what the marketer’s saying, and the offer he or she is making.

Second of all, this also adds credibility to the offer by giving the prospects the idea that the marketer is an “expert” at what he or she is doing. After all, they found success after being like them, they must know what they’re doing. The prospects respect the marketer, and with respect comes trust.

Under “Making Your Banner” they have common questions, a tutorial, banner generators that will actually create your banner for you, free banner makers (people that will create a banner for free for you), animated banner questions, and places where you can have an animated banner created for you. Now creating the banner is not a problem, because there’s a tutorial there that tells you how to do it.
  3. Create your banner!

The other thing I want to advise you to do is carefully read the instructions and the “rules” for each of these banner exchanges. Some of them don’t allow you to place their exchange banner on anything but your home page. Others encourage you to place it on every page on your site so that you get more displays. If you can, put it everywhere!

According to a magazine I read recently, starting a banner exchange on your own site is a very shrewd opportunity. It is very shrewd and very popular because, if nothing else, that extra banner display you would normally sell can instead be sold for profit. You could also have that display advertise your web site, another web site you have, or any other web business!

There have been many web businesses. It is a little more complex because it requires the acquisition of some software and setting up your web site for an exchange. There are some people now that are actually offering services free of charge that display other ads where they’ll set it up for you and you just provide the link.

Now I just want to add that animated banners are definitely worth the extra effort to create. I understand there is some research that says that an animated banner will have up to seven times the click-through ratio as a non-animated banner. There’s all sorts of help for creating them - they’re not that difficult! An animated banner can be as simple as words that display and change so you can get a whole sentence into that small space. It’s something that catches the eye!
Another neat trick that I see used often is making a banner ad look somewhat like a bar with a “click here” icon, or asking a question with multiple choice answers so that people actually are somewhat tricked into clicking on it to answer, but instead it takes you to another site.

You want to use this technique with caution, because you don’t want to irritate your market. You want to attract it! Sometimes, if you do it right, it can really catch the eye and actually increase the number of clicks you get.

  1. Dramatize the facts.
    This is very important. For example, if your product helped a guy earn $10,000 a month, don’t just tell it like that. Tell the whole story. Tell how he started out with $250 to his name, and turned it into $10,000 a month within 6 months!

  2. Present your facts in a human-interest context.
    You must present your message in a straight-forward, easy-to-understand way! Present your message in easy-to-read English, and don’t use big confusing words! Also, don’t present your story from your point-of-view. Always tell the story from the customer’s position. Put them right into your situation. Show them enjoying the benefits they will get from your product!

    Be sure to give all the details related to your offer. How did your product originate? Why was it created? What was the need for your product? Be very specific!

  2. Always include testimonials.
    Be sure to tell your prospects what other people thought about your products. Even if you have to solicit the testimonials from your customers, your prospects will still believe what a customer says over what you say. To cover yourself, you should always get permission to use a customer’s testimonial. And, whenever possible, be sure to use their full name and the city and state where they are from! It adds to the believability!

  3. If your price is higher or lower than the competition, always tell why.
    Unless your price is exactly the same as the competition, which it probably isn’t, you will need to tell your customers why that is. Is your price higher because you give them full customer support (unlike the competition) for one full year after the sale? Is your price lower because you don’t bill them every month, and that cuts down on the paperwork expenses? Whatever the situation, your customer must always know the “why” behind it!

If you will follow these five guidelines, you will get more of your customers to believe what you are saying, and that will lead to more and more sales for you!

So you might be able to go to your largest library in your local area and find them in the reference section, and then you can go ahead, copy some information out of there that you need, get some contact information, and start getting some free information for your web site.

By simply using this method, you can get the information absolutely free - just by getting a library card at a local library that carries these directories! Or, if you do want to invest in it, you might be able to make more than $600.00 advertising your web site free of charge. You might make $6,000, $60,000, or 6 million so it might be a good investment for you over time.

How to Get Rich By Helping Other
People Get What They Want!
 

We have a formula we use to create great offers - we call it the P.A.S. formula. It’s how to get rich by helping other people get what they want!

“P” stands for “Problem.” Every product that is sold because the customer has a problem - a problem that the product is designed to solve. Therefore, it’s logical in sales copy to bring up the problem. When you do this, you make the copy personally relevant to the prospect.

You want that prospect to be sitting there reading your copy saying to himself, “Yep, that’s happened to me before, and it frustrates me to no end. So tell me what you can do about it.”

“A” stands for agitation. By bringing up the problem in the sales copy, it’s agitating the prospect – it’s reminding them that they hate to have that problem and setting them up to be happy to hear you have something that could remedy that problem.

“S” stands for solution. Now, you show the prospect that you have the solution to their problems - your product can be the solution so they never have to suffer from that problem again! You show them that what you offer has the solution they desperately want - they get excited about the possibility, and they want to buy what you offer!

Another thing that he’s doing really well is on page #3 and #4. He’s using a formula that we call P.A.S. He’s bringing up a problem. He’s showing an example of a typical direct response marketing business and all of the high costs, all of the things you have to go through, and all of the headaches and hassles. He’s bringing up the problem. That’s the “P” part. The “A” part is he is kind of agitating it a little bit by making you feel the problem yourself. Then, for the “S” he’s offering the solution. For $1,000 bucks you can buy his program and he’ll show you how he’s corrected and found solutions for all of these problems.
