By Being An E-Mail Elephant!
I want to show you how to build a
business, part-time or full-time, by being an e-mail elephant. It is
really very simple, and it can be less work intensive than it
sounds. I am going to give you a couple of secrets of creating an
e-mail reminder service.
These days, Microsoft Windows comes
with a program called Outlook Express built in. It has a personal
information manager you can use to keep track of the information you
need to.
You can also buy little hand-held personal
information managers. These all allow you to set appointments,
dates, and reminders. The key is that you set up reminders for
everybody.
Your next step is to set up an e-mail address that
you’ll use for people to reach you and tell you they want to use
your reminder service. You can advertise this e-mail address on
Pin-Up Bulletin Boards, on a business card, or a tear-off sheet on
bulletin boards around the local coffee shops (If you want to do it
on a shoestring budget to get started). If you have a little bit of
money, you can run small classified ads. Basically, the message
would be, “Never forget another important date! Free Service!
E-mail: (and then give your e-mail address).”

When they e-mail you, send back an
e-mail form letter that asks them to list birthdays by name and
date; anniversaries by name and date; other important dates by name,
event and date; and then tell them to e-mail it back to you and
you’ll get started. Let them know one or two days ahead of time that
their important dates are close to arriving by e-mail. They will
have an e-mail waiting for them. You could even add appointments if
you’re up to it, but that gets a little more complex.
Now you
enter the dates, information, the e-mail address, and the person’s
name into your personal information manager software. Set it to
remind you a couple of days before the dates. Then every morning you
come in, run your personal information manager, and there will be a
list of people there that you need to e-mail. You just send out the
e-mail!
You can literally do this by hand. It will get very
intensive after a while. You could hire somebody inexpensively to
help you if you want to do it that way. There is also an interesting
software program called “Internet Eureka” that is absolutely free.
You have to pay if you like it - it is free to use. It is like
shareware. We have a friend who can send it to you. Simply e-mail
him at support@sysop.com. In the message say, “Please forward this
to Alan. I would like a copy of ‘Internet Eureka.’” Then he will
e-mail you a copy that you can set up and see how it works. It’s
neat because it is like the personal information manager software I
mentioned, but it can also be set up to e-mail someone a reminder.
It can help automate the whole process.

Here’s where you make your money. You
offered a free service, and now you sell advertising to local
merchants.
Remember, you are telling people about birthdays,
anniversaries, and other important dates. Most often these involve a
lot of local merchants. Florists are going to want to advertise in
these messages, as are gift shops, card shops, book stores, and
anybody that sells gift items or something of interest to people.
You can literally charge ten to twenty-five cents per message that
you’re sending out, which is the going rate for a good e-mail
address if you sell a list.
I would sign up these merchants
by the hundreds: “I will send you a hundred messages out for
$250.00,” or whatever. You could set this service up and send it to
your own customers if you were selling other products and services
yourself. You could advertise your products and services with
specials and coupons at the bottom. Either way, you end up with a
great way to set up a valuable free service that will have your
customers looking forward to hearing from you, and that’s a valuable
and saleable resource on the Internet.

A Three-Letter Word That You Can Use
Over And Over Again In Your Advertising -AND MAKE A TON OF
MONEY!
Always remember the value of using the
word YOU in your headlines and copy. Remember, you are writing to
one person at a time, and that is a magic word to people.
You
should get into the habit of writing to just one person and writing
in the context of “You’ll get this,” “You’ll get that.” Focus on
what is in it for the customer. What are they going to get?
Remember, people want to know what is in it for them, so you should
tell them what’s in it for them over and over again.
The word
YOU is a word that gets them involved right “off the bat.” It brings
them into the context and helps them picture themselves with the
benefits of your product through phrases like:
1. YOU can
have more leisure time! 2. YOU can have more money! 3. Imagine
YOURself owning your own successful small business!
And so
on.
A good rule of thumb is: for every time the words I, ME,
or MINE appear in your copy, you say YOU four of five times. Go
through your copy when you edit it, and get the word YOU working for
you immediately.

1.) Figure out what your customers want.
Make a list. Add to it on a regular basis.

5.) Write down a third list of the benefits this

6.) Now, write your ad copy around your three lists.

PROVE to them that your product or service can do these things for
them.

recommend that your e-zine have content have content. Your content

gardening, your e-zine could be full of gardening tips. Whatever

One tip I have - if you

to write anything. There are many people that can write material for
you and provide you with material.
If you’re worried that you
might not know enough to be an expert and have your own newsletter,
always remember that, as little as you think you know, there are
always a lot of people that know a lot less than you do. There are
always people out there that are eager to learn what you have to
share with them in your electronic newsletter or e-zine.

do is not write the material yourself. If you happen to enjoy

use articles other people have written that they have given
permission for use by others in their e-zines. Even if you find a
report you see on someone’s web site that you know is valuable you
can e-mail the webmaster and ask for permission to use. All it takes
is an e-mail to them saying, “I really enjoyed your report that I
saw on your web site, and I know my customers would really
appreciate it, too. I have an e-zine of 5,000 customers (or however
many it ends up being).”

One thing you never want to do is reprint someone’s

your e-zine is to actually purchase or invest in a CD Rom or a
computer disc that contains reprint rights to a group of reports.
The reports should be on a subject matter that you are going to be

“The Instant Publisher’s CD Rom” that is full of money making
information. It contains the reprint rights to 750 informational
reports.
If you use one of these reports a week in your
e-zine, it would take you a long time to go through all
750!
There are many ways you can get information and content
for your e-zine. The key is the e-zine is a valuable tool to help
you reach your customers, if you’ll just get out there and use it
and use these methods.

In my opinion, that’s the best way to do it, and the best way to
build the largest customer base. With each e-zine you send out you
can also include special offers and a link back to your web site (if

just include special offers and let people buy those offers from
you. Chances are, a portion of the people every week will
purchase.
The second way to make money with your list is to
sell advertising to other web sites that are in your market who want
to reach your list of customers. You can sell them an ad within your
e-zine that can make you more money than actually selling your
products!
Combined with selling products, you can actually
make a substantial amount of money selling advertisement spacing on
your e-zine. You could sell your advertising in the e-zine for
$50.00 a month, or $50.00 a week. It all depends on how big your
list is and how valuable your list is. It’s up to you to decide. You
can test different prices and find out what other web site owners
are willing to pay.
We recommend that you assign a price to
your e-zine. If it is valued at free and there is no price on it,
people perceive it as being worth nothing. If you put a $99.00 value
on it, or $195.00 value, people will put more faith and more stock
in what you say, and it will come across like you are more of an
expert. This is invaluable, because people will read it more than
they would if it was a free newsletter.

something like that.
You can add to your list very fast! It
may seem like it would be slow, but if you average just 25 new
customers a day signing up for your newsletter, at the end of one
year you would have 9,125 customers receiving e-mail from you every
single week. That is almost 10,000 customers in a year just by
having 25 people sign up a week!
You might have 100, you
might have 50, or you might only have 75 signing up a day. One day
you might have no one signing up, and the next day you have 50 sign
up. The key is to get your advertising out there for your electronic
newsletter - then you will get people to sign up. Just a small
number of people signing up every day can add up over a year, and
over a two to three year period you can get many tens of thousands
of people.

This Is The Most Important Thing That Will Give
Your Sales Letter Instant Sizzle And Selling Power!
One of the most important concepts you
should remember when it comes to creating sales copy is the fact
that people are lazy. This is not meant as a huge slam, mind you -
it’s simply the truth. The more work something presents them with,
the less chance there is that they’ll do it - or the more chance
there is that they’ll put it off until they have to do
it.
When people read through sales copy, they don’t want to
put any work into it. When they get a sales letter that has huge,
unbroken paragraphs of continuous type, it looks like a lot - and,
since there isn’t any variety in the size or color of the font, it
looks boring.
If that copy looks boring or looks like a lot
of work to get through, your prospects aren’t usually going to take
the time to read through it - they’re going to pitch it in the
trash.
This is one of the reasons why every sales letter you
write should have bullets!
Bullets are, essentially,
headlines WITHIN the ad copy. They introduce the reader to new ideas
that are being presented - typically by presenting a benefit very
dramatically. They are usually used every paragraph or two. They’re
bold and they’re larger than the normal font, and there’s usually a
double space between it and the body copy following.

How Personalization Can Make You A Small
Fortune!
Personalization can make you a fortune
because people want to feel special. Here are some of the methods
you can use to make them feel special:
(1) You can
personalize each sales letter. The technology to do this is getting
cheaper all the time.
(2) Or, you can segment your list by
what people order. Your customers can be placed into different
positions that are called different names such as: “Preferred
Customer” – “Exclusive Distributor” – “Founding Member,” etc. This
lets you mail to the whole group, avoid the personalization charge
and still make it “feel” personalized.
(3) You can do things
to make the customer feel special. You can write to them a certain
kind of friendly way. You can record cassette tapes to them. Send
your picture with every offer and do other things to make them feel
special.
It is actually possible to create a bond with the
people you do business with... Make them value you. Build an actual

Many times, your best ideas will come from companies
that sell products and services that are completely unrelated to
your own. If you are only looking in your own market for ideas, you

look at what the companies making the most money in their market are

using and then making it work for you. This really separates you

Historically in all different markets, there are
“Me Too!” companies. They are exactly what the name implies. There’s
nothing unique about them. There’s nothing separating them from most
of the other businesses catering to their market.
Therefore,
most companies have no unique strategies or positioning. There is
nothing that will compel a prospect towards one of these businesses,
because they are all the same.
Only when a company is truly
different and stands out from the crowd will that company be able to
gain the attention and interest of the serious prospects, who have
seen it all. They are bored with the monotony of the other
companies, and they’re looking for something
different.
Breakthroughs are out there, and they are taking
on the form of what other companies are doing. But those companies
are not necessarily the companies serving your market. Look at the
ideas being used by companies that are totally unrelated to your
market. Find ideas and offers that are great, and ask yourself, “How
can I incorporate this idea into my own offers and
advertisements?”

that can make you thousands of dollars! You are not limited in where
your ideas can come from. All it takes is some thought to turn a

your time writing articles or such, you can spend your time doing a
little research on the net and creating your directory of

Let’s say you go out, do some research, and create a
searchable directory of content for web site owners. There are two
ways you can seriously cash in with this type of a web site. First,
you can sell banner advertising on your site. Let’s say, for
example, that you sell banner advertising on your site for just
$250.00 per week. In one year, (52 weeks a year) one banner on your
