One quick point that I wanted to make: I’ve been asked this question quite a few times from people that I’ve talked to on the phone when it comes to creating these instant products or very fast products is...

“Okay, I can create an audio cassette, manual, directory, or whatever within a day. Okay, now I’ve got a $20 product when I know that a lot of my back-end sales need to be $195, $295, or more. How in the heck am I going to do that?”

Focus on a product a day. Let’s say you’re lazy. You want to create a brand new product every two days. (Remember, not months or years.)

You need a week to three weeks to polish it up and get everything ready, and you could have a course that you might sell for $195, $295, $495, or more using a number of these ideas. For example, taking public domain information, recording reports onto audio cassettes, taking a lot of these ideas and creating a grouping of products and selling it for a very high price.

I don’t want you to think that you’re set in creating one product and now it’s a $20, $40, $50, or $100 product. What I would like to cover in this article is all of the people who do come up to us and say, “How in the world do you produce so many of these products?” I would like to specifically talk about some of the best informational products that we sell. Now, when I say best, I’m talking about the fastest.

I’ve got a list of five of the best and fastest products that we’ve produced here. Although the title of this program is “The Shortcut System For Creating A High Profit Book or Manual” you need to realize that there are all kinds of different informational products that you can sell. You can sell these products from anywhere from 10 to 30 times, or more, than your actual cost to produce. Then, the fact that the customers get excellent value is the third and most important thing because we’re talking about giving customers so much value they’ll want to come back.

On our list of five, the first thing is books and manuals. Russ taught us how to use ghostwriters, and we’ve had ghostwriters that have done dozens of different books for us. So, for these ghostwriters, all we do is give them the research materials or they go out and get their own research materials. They do all the work. We put our name on it. We sell it. We keep all the profits. You can do this, too.

Also, here’s something else. You can use the same chapters in some of your manuals and find new ways to use those same chapters in other manuals. It’s something for you to think about. Rewriting. You can rewrite the material a little bit, or if you have certain chapters that would apply for other publications, you can build a manual or book very easily by simply using past things that you’ve done in other manuals, as long as the customer gets good value. Remember, that’s the secret.

The only difference between a manual and a book is just the binding. So, if you put it in a three-ring binder, you’d call it a manual. If you have it perfect bound, you’d call it a book. So, don’t get hung up on the terms here.

The second product is home study courses. This is where you just package up a ton of stuff. You have videos. You have audio cassettes, maybe some reports, back issues of newsletters, tip sheets.

What you are really shooting for here is when the customer gets it, they open it up and it’s like Christmas time. There’s just a whole bunch of stuff that just jumps out at them.

The benefit of selling home study courses is you can turn $50 worth of hard cost, I’m talking now the printing and duplication costs, easily into $500 or $800 by selling it as a home study course. This just contains a lot of your different informational products that are just grouped together with some subject as the main theme. It’s got to be a hot subject. Now, you’re instantly getting ten to twenty times your cost just by packaging it all up like this.

The third thing is recorded seminars. So, you have a seminar for your customers, your prospects, or your clients, and then you simply sell the audio tapes, the video tapes, or the printed transcripts of that seminar in pieces or as a whole. This is something that has a tremendous value.

Some of our seminars have sold for $5,000. So, when we package those seminars up and sell the transcripts, it does have a high perceived value. That’s a great way that we can sell something for ten to thirty times what it cost us.

Number four is newsletters. We like newsletters because of the commitment that it takes to do a newsletter every month. It does force you to do something and continue to produce something.

Now, here’s the beautiful part. Oh, you’re getting paid to do that by the way because you have your subscribers to that newsletter. Then, you can sell back issues of those newsletters, all packaged up. You know, there are all kinds of things you can do with those newsletters once they’re written. You make money two ways. That’s a very popular product for us.

Number five is multi-author products. Russ is the one who first taught us how to do this. One of our first products that we did with Russ was just a simple round table discussion, that’s all it was. We just sat around the table and we had microphones.

Basically what we did was interview Russ. We have put together so many products with other people, where the work that we’ve had to do is minimal. That’s what we do every week now. Every week we get together with a panel group that all have customers and client who want the same type of materials and the same type of information, and we spend a couple hours a week recording two 45 minute cassette tapes.

Every week! It adds up over a period of time. In four sessions, you are able to produce a 150-170 page manual. Plus, you have eight 45 minute cassette tapes. There’s a product that can and does easily sell for $150 to $195.

Magazines tend to be more difficult to make per-inquiry deals with, but they do have what is known as “remnant space.” Magazines are printed on large sheets of paper that may represent sixteen pages. Let’s say they only have fifteen pages filled with material and copy, and the sixteenth page is still unfinished.

I am going to talk about how to get other people to use e-mail to build your web site traffic and sales for you, without you having to lift a finger. You’ll never even have to send out a single e-mail yourself to do this. It is the power of referrals.

What is the most powerful, persuasive, and profitable sales technique that exists? The answer is a referral where someone recommends you to a prospect. That’s really the backbone of face-to-face selling. It has been taken to a fine art in the financial industry, the insurance industry, and in auto sales. Their whole routines that are taught to sales people and how, at the close of every transaction, they get two or three more referrals - people that they call on. That’s what makes you the most money in sales is a sure-fire referral. It leverages the credibility of the person they already know and are acquainted with to you.

They may not know you. They may not know much about your product, but if a friend of theirs says, “You really should talk to this man about this product or this service,” then you have the potential customer’s real attention from the very beginning. He is willing to talk to you and he is going to listen to you a little more attentively because someone that he trusts has made the recommendation. That’s important in all sorts of business environments, including even the movies.

That’s why the movie industry has sneak previews. You never hear about where they are really looking for opinions. The sneak previews that they hold in theaters are basically of movies that they want the public to see, and that they know the talk about is going to be good.

You’ll tell a friend, “I really saw this great movie,” and then you’re more interested in knowing more about it and more likely to go see it.

The same principle works on the net for making sales. Now, you don’t see it used often, but a referral on the net is a very, very powerful way to build traffic and to make sales.

How do you do it? It is actually really very easy. There is software available called CGI programs. These are tiny little programs that you can place in the CGI bin on your web site, and they’re easy to configure and install. They generally take from 15 minutes to half an hour to install and you can easily get your service provider to do that for you. It is very affordable. These CGI programs enable you to put a referral system in place on your site. It is very easy to do.

It generally looks like either a button or a form on your site that people fill in to recommend your site. Personally, I prefer the button. I have a button that I use on some of my sites that says, “Recommend this site.” Or, “Recommend this product to a friend.” You click on the button. It opens a form and there they get to fill in their name, their e-mail address, the name of their friend, and the e-mail address of their friend that they would like to recommend this site to.

I like to use the button that opens up another page with this information on it because you can put some additional information on there like you can assure them that the name that they give you is going to be sold or rented, and that they’re not going to receive a lot of spam mail from you.

People may be reluctant to give the name of a friend if they think it gets them on a mailing list. They would like to recommend the site for a friend to see. I put a paragraph on there that just acknowledges that fear and assures them that the name that they are referring the site to will not be abused.

They fill that information in, they click on the send button, and then the deal can be over depending on the programs you use. A number of the programs open a second window that says, “Hey, thanks a lot. Bet you have three more friends you would like to recommend.” And it generally gets a chuckle, but it also will get you some additional names. If you want to carry it further on that extra page that opens, you can offer them a free report, a free bonus, or a discount if they give you three additional names. And if they do, then you just send them the address of another location of your web site where you have a free report they can download.

We would recommend going to the handcraft shows. Almost every town of any decent size has handcraft malls where you have several home workers who either do this as a hobby or as a full-time job. They have a small booth or section and there might be dozens of them. What you want to do is look for the unusual ones, the ones that come closest to original artwork, or even original artists who have a booth or photographers that do unusual work.

Get two or three hundred sites to sell your fifty dollar product and you get $20 for every sale. You can sweeten the deal by saying they don’t even have to stock this because we will stock and ship the product. You could make thousands and thousands of dollars of extra revenue every month off your 200 sites. This would not be difficult to get if you made $20 per sale and the site made $30 per sale. All they would have to sell is one item per week. Some people are familiar with the old computer bulletin boards and the computer bulletin board systems that used to be around several years ago. A lot of the discussion forums on the Internet are basically glorified bulletin board systems for people to share information and knowledge that they have and ask questions of other people. People that may be experts answer the questions. They just get together and communicate about various topics.

While you cannot blatantly advertise on these discussion forums, you can use them to your advantage to get free advertising - We’ve done it - it’s how you could bring in truckloads of cash with Internet discussion boards! Here’s how we did it - and how you could do it, too!

First of all, there are many discussion forums out there. If you’ve been on the Internet and looked around, you’ll see that there are discussion forums on just about any topic you could imagine. The market that we service is the business opportunity market.

There are a lot of marketing forums. There are also forums for gardening, cooking, etc. There are lots of different forums. Their only purpose is to serve as a board where people can post their questions or comments and have other people respond to them. You’ll find that some of these discussion forums have hundreds and hundreds of people, maybe thousands of people, who visit them and participate in them.

Just by being involved in these discussion forums, without advertising, you can let people know you have a web site that is along the same topic that the discussion forum caters to. When you’re submitting your response, your question, or your statement on the forum, most of them have a place at the bottom of the post where it says enter your web site address. You can enter your web site address. There’s another line that says enter a brief description of your web site. You can list a brief description. Some of them even have a place where you can actually post a graphic. Not only would you have your address with a brief description, but it would also list a small graphic, maybe a banner ad or something that gave a little more information about your site.

Remember, you don’t want to blatantly advertise on these discussion forums. Every time you participate, every time you ask a question, and every time you answer a question, you can put that link to your web site on there and say “By the way, I have a web site that you might be interested in. Click here to go right there.” People can click on it and go right to your web site.

There are three kinds of people that visit discussion forums. The first kind is the people who ask the questions or make the statements on the discussion forum. The second kind is the people who answer the questions. If you visit discussion forums, you’ll notice that sometimes there are a lot more people answering questions than asking. The third kind is the people who visit the board, read the questions, read the answers, but don’t actually participate. Those are the people that you never really see or hear from. You know there are a lot more of those people on the discussion forum than those that are participating. While you may only see fifty or sixty people who have their name there by a response or a question, there may be hundreds of people that have visited and seen your responses and your advertisement leading back to your web site.

That’s just a simple idea. You can’t really blatantly advertise, but you can get the free advertising by participating on the board as much as you can, responding to people’s questions, and using that free link that they let you put at the bottom to draw people back to your web site. Some forums attract hundreds, or even thousands of people that could be good potential customers every day . . . so why not get involved and let them know you’re out there?

We have a friend who has a newsletter. When he first started his newsletter, he began visiting the discussion boards. He basically answered people’s questions . . . and at the bottom of every message he posted was a little link.

When people would click on that link, an audio responder would send them a copy of his newsletter by e-mail. The responder did all the work, sent our friend the orders, and would keep half the money.

So, just by answering a few questions, our friend had hundreds of people subscribe! It cost the people $97 a year to subscribe, and our friend split the money with the audio responder. Now, let’s say that Mr. Smith has 20 comments he has gotten back from previous purchasers. You can click on a button and get a listing of buyer comments! If you click on it and you see 20 things that say, “This guy sent me the item I won bidding on time and in the exact condition that he said it was in. I’m just pleased as punch about it!”

Now you’ll feel pretty confident about buying from him. If you see 19 of these messages and one that says that it was a little bit slow, you can still feel pretty confident. This is how to build your Internet auction integrity so people interested in buying your products can’t help but do so! After all, if you’ve got a lot of positive feedback up for prospective buyers to check out, they’re going to see that you’re very trustworthy and honorable in your sales, and they’re going to know you’re a safe person to buy from!

If you’re selling on there, you don’t need to worry too much about having NO track record - they will most typically assume that you’re trustworthy until you prove otherwise. Another thing Internet marketers engage in is referral or an associate programs.

Amazon.com is the most obvious example. For example - if you have a site about voting and you wanted to sell some voting books, you place a link that says, “To read more books on this subject or to order books.” Or if you have a money making site - say, for example, there’s a book on How To Strike It Rich On eBay - you say, “Gosh, would you like to make money on the Internet? Click here.” The click on the link takes them to amazon.com to the page for that book or another book called Striking It Rich.com, any book you want.

When the person buys the product, the computer knows that it came from your site. Therefore, Amazon.com will send you money. You get a percentage - anywhere from 5% for a general referral to 15% for a specific book referred to. That’s a way you can add excitement to your site and get people coming to it. Just because you recommended these books and you’ve made it easy for them to get them, you could attract a lot more people.

All-Advantage.com came up with a wild idea to pay subscribers as much as $20 a month to surf the web. What they do is they put a view bar, which you agree to, on your screen with a roster rotating advertisements.

On the Internet, it seems as if any screen you go to has an advertisement on it anyway. You can’t go anywhere without seeing banner ads. All-Advantage could have come up with the new business model for the Internet. That’s why everyone is so excited about it.
