We’ve all been telling you that. How One Man Used The Internet To Go From Almost Broke To A Net Worth Of $3.5 BILLION+ In ONE YEAR!

We know of one man has used the Internet to go from almost broke to a net worth of more than three and a half billion dollars! And, most of that was done in a single year!

We’re talking about the phenomenal auction web site called E-Bay and its founder, Pierre Omidyar. He was the founder, and actually president, of the company for a number of years.

He conceived E-Bay originally as a result of a conversation between himself and his wife. And the interesting story goes that she was an avid Pez dispenser collector. She just commented to him how great it would be if she would be able to collect Pez dispensers and interact with other collectors over the Internet.

This is what’s really intriguing - how the Internet made possible the growth from a comment, from a single spark of an idea, to a multi-billion dollar business in just a couple of short years. It’s actually worth more than 3.5 billion dollars in one year!

Anyway, her comment got him thinking about it, and he expanded on that idea, of course. He saw this spark and he said “Man, I could not only serve her needs, but if she’s got this need, other people have this need.” And that’s the “how” in this whole story. For example, if you were accidentally thinking small and you stuck with Pez dispensers, you could still find enough Pez dispenser collectors through the huge numbers of people that are on the Internet, to probably make a go of it and have a nice little business for yourself.
But it got bigger. He decided to make it available to collectibles of all kinds, and to people who wanted to trade everything from used computers and new computers right out of the box, to beanie babies, and beyond. The business just took off.

He launched it Labor Day in September of 1995, so it’s been around a few years now, going on a little over four years. It started out that humble way, and today it is traded on the stock exchange - You can go buy public stock in E-Bay! It’s a public company.

His holdings make him worth five billion dollars today. E-Bay is the leading person-to-person trading site on the Internet. A recent release from the company says they now provide over 2,000,000 new auctions at 250,000 new items every day. And the thing is just growing exponentially. They’ve got more than 1600 categories: collectibles, antiques, music, poetry, there is even pottery, photography, electronics, and jewelry. It is just amazing. It’s turned into a phenomenon and people are now actually launching their own businesses, as we’ve seen, utilizing this business.

How To Plant An Internet Seed, Leave It Alone For A Few Days, And Come Back To Find A Whole Product Waiting For You!

I like to use the Internet and technology, because I’m as lazy as anybody. Well, maybe Mark Nolan might have me beat, but I don’t like to get up out of my chair any more often then I have to. I think humans are kind of that way.

One technique I’ve got here will actually take several days for your efforts to come to fruition, but it only takes a few minutes to plant the seed. You go back, check on what you’ve planted, and you will have the material for a book to sell as an information product.

The key is newsgroups. On the Internet, these are like public message boards that are divided by information category and subject matter.

You want to come up with a subject that interests you. This is the same for any information product you ever create. You’ve got to be interested in it. That doesn’t mean you have to know anything about it. In fact, it could be something that has always interested you.

This has worked best for me. It could be something that has always peaked your interest, but you don’t know anything about and you would really like to learn more.

One of the best ways to create an information product is to gather information as you learn it. Come up with a subject that you’d like, and that you know also there are other people out there that would be interested in, of course. Make As Sure As You Can That The List You Select Is Profitable - Test With Nth Selection!

When a mailing test is done, the user will usually request the Nth selection. This ensures that the test will include the effectiveness of the entire list, as opposed to segments.

“Nth Selection” refers to a number of names that are randomly selected by a computer from an entire list. Nth selection is like shuffling a deck of cards. Then you pick one of those cards randomly and test it out.

If you are unsure about your selection, test. Make sure you’re never cheated by testing a randomly picked sampling of the list. That way, even though you do lose some money, that amount is minuscule compared to the amount you would have lost if you had mailed to the whole list.

Certainly you might have some people just stumbling onto your web site automatically, but why rely on that when you can actually build up your traffic? For those of you out there who are wondering just how simple and easy selling over Internet auctions is, we’re going to give you an example of how to post. Let’s just look at e-Bay as an example because it’s the premier auction site right now.

Let’s just step through that. First of all, you have to have a computer and an Internet connection. You log on by typing ebay.com or www.ebay.com at the top of your web browser.

One of the first things you should do is just poke around. Just look around and go window shopping. Pretend that it’s Christmas in 1956 and you’re walking down State Street, and Marshall Fields has all of the windows displayed. It’s fun to do that.

Like so many other things on the Internet, it’s point and click. Of course there’s a facility for searching for something.

We have a friend who collects frisbees. He’s been collecting frisbees since the early 70's, and he knew maybe two other people who shared that same hobby.
