by a young Union officer, and he paid $73,000 for that book
several years ago. Today, he’s been offered $150,000 for the

it. He’s fallen in love with his books. He’s not just a book
collector, he is a book lover.
He’s got over $3,000,000 worth of books, and he’s never
going to let them go until he dies. He’s going to give them to
the National Archives and a library in Philadelphia where he
lives.
Well he paid $73,000 for a rare Civil War diary that is
worth $150,000. That’s a pretty good deal! But, if you’re like

We have a friend who wanted a way to force people to come
back to his site on a regular basis. He actually started out
weekly or monthly, but now he does it more on a bi-weekly
basis.
When he started it, he wanted people to come back, so he
had a contest. To win the grand prize they actually had to go
back to his site to find a particular phrase. He’d find a
phrase on one of the pages and then, in his e-mail newsletter,
he’d say “Look, here’s our brand new contest, you can win the
prize if you’re the first person to find this phrase.”
All the people would scramble back to the web site and
look. The best thing about it was it usually wasn’t on the
first page. They had to really look through all the product
listing and information about his other opportunities until
they found it. It forced them to get back into the site and
look over everything. Then, they could e-mail him, and say
“Hey, I was the first one.”
Then, he would award them the prize. In some cases, the
prizes were actual products that he was selling, but in many
cases, the prize was actual advertising on his Internet site.
He could say “Here, you get a banner. It’s worth $500.” His
real cost was virtually nothing. It was just plastering that
banner at the top or giving them some sort of an Internet ad
in his mall. His prizes, then, became virtually free. It was

A great source for articles and content - one of the
easiest and best sources there is - is the Interview. Find
someone who has a site that’s successful, or someone who’s
site you use regularly and admire. Typically, at the bottom of
the web page there will be a contact link, or a link stating
you can “e-mail the webmaster.” By clicking on it, it will
allow you to e-mail the site’s operator. Email them with
flattery about their web page, and ask if you might conduct
and interview with them!
One of the best ways to get someone talking is by telling
them that you want to interview them, and that the interview
will be distributed and posted to possibly hundreds of other
Internet sites as well as your own, and promoted heavily. You
can ask them about tips, about their information, and if you
interview them by e-mail, you won’t have to transcribe a tape!
You can just send them e-mail questions, and they e-mail their
responses. They’ve literally written an article for you!
The other method of interviewing is to do it over the
telephone. It does take less time for them to respond over the
phone. Cheap recording devices connected to phones typically
run around $25 to $35 at any Radio Shack. Let your interviewee
know they’re being recorded, then record it, listen to it, and
transcribe it. Whomever you interviewed has given you all the
material - now all you have to do is type it out and edit it.

Proven Method Gets People
to Pay You Tons of Money To Advertise Your Own

.... And it’s so simple and easy - you won’t
believe it!
In the past we’ve used print advertising in these little
card decks or what are also known as card packs. They’re
basically a pack of maybe fifty or one hundred different
advertisements each on its own little postcard size card. It’s
all sealed in a plastic wrap so you can open it up and flip
through each of them.
What we’ve done in the past (and it has been very
successful in terms of getting free advertising) is offer
co-op advertising. Many of the cards in these card decks can
be very expensive. For example, if you contact these card deck
companies they’ll sell you a card for around $1,500 or $1,600
for just one mailed out one time to 100,000 people. This is
probably the lowest amount we have seen. The price goes up
from there if you want additional colors on it or if you want
it to go out to additional people. It can get up into the
$2,000, $3,000, or $4,000 range. It’s very expensive
advertising.
At the same time, it’s very effective advertising. What you
can do to get your ad free of charge in these card decks is
actually sell ads on one of these cards and have the
advertisers pay for the entire cost of the card! This is a
proven method to get people to pay you tons of money to
advertise your own website . . . and it’s so simple and easy,
you won’t believe it! Here’s an example of how you would do it
and here’s how we’ve done it in the past.
You would measure the card, and you would figure out how
many ads can be placed on each side of a card before you sell
any of the places. Let’s say you want to make it pretty
simple, so you just split up each side into four different
quarters. You can sell a quarter of that card for a certain
amount of money. Then, you go out and you can find advertisers
out there that would not be able to spend $1,400, $1,500, or
$1,600 on their own card in a card deck, but they’d be more
than happy to spend $200 or $300 on a smaller ad on your
card.
By selling all the spaces on one card, you cannot only
break even on the cost of the card but you can actually make a
profit on the cost of the card. Let’s say that the cost of
your card is $1,400. There are card decks where you can
actually get a deal for $1,400. Let’s say you have four ad
spaces on one side and four ad spaces on the other side, which
are eight spaces total. You sell each of them for $200, which
is really a good deal. Now, you’ve got cash in hand in the
amount of $1,600.
Now the card is completely paid for by those advertisers
and you pocketed $200 in cash. You’re saying to yourself,
“Okay, where does the free advertising come in? I mean, if
their ads are taking up the card, where does mine come in?”
Well, you don’t split up the entire card. What you want to do
on your card is give yourself space at the top, middle, or
bottom of each side. You can really decide. If you take a look
at some of these card decks, you’ll see people using the same
message. They’ve got an ad that runs all the way across the
top and it advertises their website. On the other side they
might have an ad that runs all the way across the bottom.
Basically, it just includes the website address and a
little bit more information about it, but it’s free of charge.
You’ve sold most of each card side in advertising. Your ad on
the top, bottom, or middle basically runs free of charge. In
the past, we’ve done this. In one card deck, we had seven
different cards running. Each would have cost us $1,500, but
we got all of them free because we sold so much advertising
that the advertisers were paying for all of the card! Our ads
just rode along free at the top and the bottom of each of
those cards.
This is something that is not only limited to card decks.
You could do it with the cable-classified channel. You could
also do it in terms of print advertising. A lot of people
cannot afford full-page ads in magazines. Let’s say instead of
going for the full-page ad, you break it up into quarters or
you break it up into one-inch spaces. What you’ll find is if
you break it up into one-inch spaces and sell off those
spaces, you could have more than enough money to pay for the
full-page ad and give yourself an ad way up at the top or way
down at the bottom.
When using this technique of co-op advertising you’re going
to find that you can get a lot of advertising free of charge
whether it’s in print publications, TV., or card decks.
Whenever you find an advertising medium, you might want to
think before you get out your checkbook. You might want to
think before you put out a dollar, “How can I turn this into
an advertising co-op? How can I get some free advertising from
this?” |

Many starting marketers don’t understand how powerful
affiliate programs can be, and how easy they are to instigate.
There are companies out there with literally thousands of
affiliates helping sell their products - and you could have
the same thing! Starting your own affiliate program is how you
could make hundreds, or even THOUSANDS of people happy to sell
your products!
Affiliate programs are referred to by various names.
Affiliate programs are sometimes called strategic partners,
other times associate programs – it’s all the same thing.
Amazon.com was really the first to make this popular, and they
have 400,000 affiliates selling their products for them! Many
people have modeled that success - why can’t you?
Basically, here is how it works. They give you a piece of
code that your host puts on your web site for you, and then
you list the books that are related to your subject matter, or
you put illustration of your books on your site, and they are
related to the products that you are selling.
For instance, if your site is about health and you sell
supplements, then you might show on your site a number of
books that relate like mega doses of vitamins, or new natural
healing methods, or anything that relates to your site. If
you’re selling fishing, it’s about fishing spots, fly tying,
etc.
You, in effect, open a bookstore on your site. When the
visitor on your site clicks on any one of those titles, they
are carried instantly to the Amazon site where they can find
out more about the book, the price, the size, the delivery
schedule, what people have said about it, other comments about
the writer – and you do nothing!
When the visitor from your site clicks on a book or title
at Amazon.com it is instantly recorded and you are paid a
small commission for that sale. What you are doing is
generating customers and traffic for Amazon. It’s a win-win
situation because your customers are getting something they
want (more information about products that you sell) and for
doing nothing, frankly. The commission is pretty much free
money, because you don’t have to pack the product, you don’t
have to ship the product, you don’t warehouse it, you don’t
have any money tied up in inventory.
You can do this for your own products, too! You don’t have
to be an Amazon.com to make this work because there is
software available from all sorts of sources that lets you
operate your own affiliate program.
You get other sites to sign up as your affiliate. It
doesn’t cost them anything, but you give them a piece of code
(your software will do that for you) and they advertise or
recommend your site. They can place a banner on their site or
they can place an ordinary link. They can also write an
article and recommend your site in that article – that is
really the most powerful referral of all. When the visitor at
your affiliate site clicks on that link or banner ad, the same
thing happens. They come directly to your site, they look at
your material, and if they make a purchase on your site, your
software automatically records that so that your affiliate
gets paid.
In fact the software we use sends the affiliate a note that
says, “Hey, you just made a sale at my site.” It sends our
customer a note that says, “Thanks for making a purchase!” And
it sends us a note that says, “It’s time to pay the
affiliate.” It tells us when and for what and how much money
to write the check for and who to send it to. It just doesn’t
get much easier than that.
In effect, you create an army of other sites that are
selling your products for you. It’s not a complicated
arrangement to set up. You can grow it as large as you want it
to grow. Essentially it is like running a national advertising
campaign, where you have TV spots and magazines all running
your ads, but you don’t have to pay a penny unless those ads
make you a sale. That’s the beauty of this - you don’t pay a
penny unless your affiliates make you a sale. It’s perinquiry
advertising at the extreme. It is a terrific way to multiply
your business, and the dollars can really pour in from
affiliate sales! |

We want to show you how you can compete on the Internet
with multimillion-dollar corporations. The Internet levels the
playing field. Your web site is on the Internet right next to
all of the other web sites from the world’s largest
corporations.
There are companies out there spending a million dollars,
or more, on web sites ... but there are many cases where, with
a little foresight and effort, your web site could do a much
greater sales job than they do!
The problem with the large corporations is their web sites
really don’t sell. The solution is that your web site can
easily be built to do nothing BUT sell! So here are some

story that Russ von Hoelscher tells about the time he was at a
trade show of the American Booksellers Convention in Las Vegas
and he ran into some executives from Prentice Hall.
That year they were both talking about the money that they
had made that year – If memory serves correctly, Russ took
home maybe $600,000 or $800,000 in pure net profit, and
Prentice Hall lost $6 million that year. So here you’ve got
this gigantic corporation that lost $6 million and Russ has
got a small but extremely profitable company that did well
over a half million dollars in pure net profits.
You have a chance now to do something that large companies
cannot do. Smaller is better – that’s the principle here at
work.
The third thing is that all you need is just small groups
of customers to potentially make a fortune. The secret of
success is getting small groups to re-buy from you again and
again.
We have proven that with our own small business. We just
bring in 400 to 700 new customers every week. That’s not a
large amount of new customers. But we make tremendous profits
by trying to do everything possible to serve those customers
and make those customers feel so good that they want to come
back and re-buy from us again and again.
Fourth, many people would rather do business with smaller
companies than with larger companies. There is a real
advantage, especially now when it seems like there are a lot
of people who are against large corporations. They know in
their heart that the smaller companies really do care for them
and they don’t feel that same level of care from these large
Fortune 500 or Fortune 1000 companies.
Fifth - and this is something that we think is very
important - nobody has to know how big your company is. Your
web site is right alongside those other giant companies’ web
sites. All it takes is the same click of a mouse that takes
somebody to a giant corporation’s web site - it will take
people to your web site, also.
Nobody has to know how big your company is. Nobody has to
know that it’s just you working out of your living room or
kitchen. The Internet really does level the playing field!
Think about it like this: what if you had a small
bookstore, and a big bookstore moved right down the street
from you? How in the world could you compete?
Think about that movie that is so popular, “You’ve Got
Mail” with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. It’s a wonderful movie. Meg
Ryan has a small little bookstore and then Tom Hanks and his
family have this giant bookstore that they move right next to
hers and she can’t compete with them. She’s forced to go out
of business. But, on the Internet, the market is
worldwide!
Amazon.com was started by Jeff Bezos, and he started
selling books right out of his garage on the Internet. Now
he’s a billionaire. We realize that Jeff Bezos is not an
average example, but we’ve come across several newspaper
articles where just small Mom & Pop companies are selling
books on the Internet, making tremendous amounts of money.
One story we came across just a few days ago is about a
couple - a husband and wife - who are making over $6,000 a
month in profit just selling their books on the Internet.
Low prices aren’t the only thing people are concerned
about. You have an advantage here on the Internet because
there are millions of people. You can reach them and sell to
them for almost no money. You can build relationships with
these people. That’s what these big, huge discounters cannot
do. There’s no way that they can do that.
But, on the Internet, you can do it for little or almost no
money. And all you need is just small groups of customers to
re-buy from you often enough for enough profit per transaction

They Might Have Lost The
Bidding, But He Has What They Wanted, And He’ll Sell

His particular interest was antique furniture and the
Disney collectibles that are so popular. First of all, he sat
down and made a list of all the antique furniture dealers that
he knew of in Southern California, all the Sunday swap meets,
all the specialty dealers and collectors he knew, and over a
period of time he visited all those people. He saw what they
had, made notes, saw what they specialized in, what items they
featured, and the kind of items they bought or received.
Remember, this was an area he was already interested in.
And he put all that data into his computer and made a database
to start to refer to. Then he started his weekly routine.
23 Every day, he gets up in the morning, sits down at the
computer, and he goes to the auction. He sees, in the category
that he is interested in, what people have put up for bid. He
makes note of what the items are, and then he looks at his
list, and he sees if he has anything like that on his
list.
Then, in the afternoon, he goes shopping. He makes the
rounds of the stores that he is familiar with, and the
dealers, and he looks for the items he has seen placed on the
auction sites.
Now, he comes back, enters all this into his computer and
keeps track of it. Then, when the auction closes, he knows
what the top bidders are, what sold, but more importantly, he
knows who the losing bidders were.
Now he contacts by e-mail every one of the losing bidders.
He says, “I know you really want this item badly, and I have a
similar item for sale. Would you be willing to pay what the
top bidder paid for that item?” And time, and time, and time
again, they say “absolutely.” He then goes to his dealer,
picks up the item, or has it shipped to them.
He works it day in, day out, week in , week out. It has
turned into a full time business for him. It has been so
profitable, he has quit his professional job and he spends his
entire time tracking the bids, going to the shops that he
loves to go to, and finding duplicate items, because most of
the stuff sold is not rare collectibles. Most of the stuff
sold on the auctions had many thousands made, and particularly
if you’re in a major market like Southern California, you can
find those items in stores.
He can find enough similar and duplicate items that he is
able to turn it into a full time business. But there is also a
bonus because at the same time he is collecting names of
people he knows has these particular interests. He knows what
they are looking for.
So as he shops, and he comes across these items, he’ll
contact previous bidders and say, “I know you bought such and
such a lamp. You favor such and such kind of chairs, and I
have such and such. What would you be willing to pay for
it?”
He plays both ends against the middle, selling to losers in
auction bidding. |

How would I do it?” It’s easy. A garage sale is like
falling off a log. Now, to have an Internet garage sale is

First of all, most people are lazy. Gathering information -
even free information - is work. It takes time and effort.
Most of us don’t have the time.
We come home from our busy day, and we want someone to do
that for us. As long as you will gather that information and
make it available to people for a reasonable cost, they’ll be
more than happy to pay you to do that for them.
Frankly, most people don’t know how to research and find
information anyway. Most people don’t even know how to take
advantage of their local library, much less spend some time on
the Internet and find the information they are looking
for.
So, if you are willing to do the hunting and the gathering,
they will gladly pay you to do that work for them.
You can sell the information that you gather in a couple of
different ways. You may be a resource directory, or it may
just be an information manual. You can take this information
that you can find for free and turn it into informational
products.
How do you find the subject matter that you want to create
a product, or a manual, or a directory about? We always
recommend that you should do something that really interests
you and you have experience in. It can be a hobby or something
related to your work experience. That’s always the best
choice. But, sometimes, there is room to take an alternate
look.
You’re just looking for something to make a profit, and get
it up and running fast. In that case, that’s what we’re going
to use an example. We’re going to look for a subject topic
matter that is hot, something that people are already
interested in, something they are already spending their money
on. That way we know it will sell, and we know there is a lot
of information that will be available on the Internet for

Five Things You Can Do Once
You Have Your Interview. |

We’ve come up with five different things you can do once
you have the interviews. Again, really there is no limit to
how many you do. If you wanted to find five web site owners to
interview - if you wanted to find ten, twenty, however many
you feel comfortable with, and if you target one specific
market area, you’ll find that you’ll have more success selling
them as a group.
The first is to put the interview in digital format,
available for immediate download. You can have a digital/audio
file right on your web site, so when people go to the web
site, they click on the interview, and maybe they read a
little portion of the transcript, or maybe they even hear a
sample.
They hear a small sample - maybe it’s a 30-minute interview
and you’ve got five minutes of the interview as a digital
preview file so people can click it and instantly hear. Then
they can go ahead and buy the entire interview, and
immediately have it downloaded to their computer, so they can
listen to it any time they want to.
The second idea is Compact Discs. Again, a lot of people
are putting information on C.D. as well. So you can not only
have audio in computer format, but you can also have CD’s that
people can purchase and get something to play in their car or
around the home.
The third idea is written transcripts. This is something
that we’ve been successful with before. It’s where you
actually take the transcript from an audio version and put it
into print so that people can have something to follow along
with. Again, when it is written, you can also make it in
digital format and available on the Internet. Maybe people can
not only get the digital audio version, but they also get the
digital printed version to download at the exact same time so
they can read it at their leisure.
The fourth idea is something that I know has been
successful for some people - an ongoing interview of the
month. Instead of actually selling several interviews as a
package, you could do one a month and people sign up almost
like a newsletter, except it is an audio newsletter.
Each month you send out a new interview, and perhaps the
transcript of it to people who have paid to receive it. Each
month they get a new interview and you could keep that going
on as long as you find new people to interview. There are
thousands and thousands of successful web sites out there, so
your material could be virtually endless.
The fifth way is an interesting way. The more we think
about it, the more it sounds like something that could be very
successful for someone who wanted to do it. Develop an
interactive C.D. ROM, where you not only have the audio
interview but also the written transcript available for people
to just click and print, or view, on the C.D.
You also show, right on the C.D. a picture of that person’s
web site. Maybe you even have the web site actually saved on
the C.D. so that people not only can hear the interview and
read the interview, but they can also see the person’s web
site, and you can actually use it as a teaching tool. People
can see how to develop their own web sites, based on the
success of this other person that you’ve interviewed.
Those are just five quick ideas. If you can work with
audiocassette tapes and interview other people, it gives you a
tremendous opportunity to create products without having to
write a single word. |

Our topic now is how to turn both paid advertising and free
advertising into fabulous profits on the Internet. We think
that there are tremendous profits to be made with paid
advertising, no question about it, Either by acting as a
broker or just putting out an e-zine or an online newsletter
and selling advertising on it, or just having links and ads on
your site from other people who are selling similar
things.
But we also think you can make a ton of money with free
advertising. This is something we’ve used in mail order, and
it works on the Internet too. An Opportunity That Could
Double, Triple, Or Even Quadruple Your Profits!
What you do is contact every site that is in any way
related to yours, directly or indirectly, and exchange links
and ads.
You’ll find these people very receptive. We’ve had many
people come to us recently that want to exchange advertising
from site to site. Now you should take the initiative. You
should get out there on the Internet and make as many deals as
you can because this can double, or triple, or quadruple your
profits by getting your ads, and your links, on all these
different sites on the Internet. In other words, exchanging
advertising.
You’ll find you will be able to get some big sites that
might have ten times as many people coming to them as you
have, but they don’t necessarily know that and they’ll make
deals with you.
It’s a great way to just exchange advertising and exchange
links without spending any money.
Advertorials are a great way to make money - not just to
exchange advertising where they put up your free ad and you
put up their free ad, but if you really like their product and
service, and you can convince them, maybe send them a sample
that your product and service is good at other sites, you
could exchange enhanced testimonials and articles, which
become sort of advertorials.
In other words, you’re promoting them in a very strong way.
We’ve discovered in mail order that what other people say
about our products and services is often just as important, or
more important, than what we say. People say, “Well sure,
you’re going to ballyhoo your own product or service. But what
other people say about it is really important.”
So, if other web sites have a nice article, call it an
enhanced testimonial, advertorial, whatever word you want to
use, telling how great your service or information product is
or whatever, that really carries weight.
And, of course, to exchange this you’ll have to do the same
for them. You’ll have to be convinced, of course, that they
have something worth promoting, that you can give your good
name to, and tell people it is great. We just think that is
tremendous, whether you sell advertising on your site, whether
you exchange advertising, or free advertising with many, many
other sites. Dozens of sites, hundreds of sites!
Also think about this big endorsement that you’ll give some
other site and their products if they’ll do the same for you.
So, we think if you put all of those methods together, you’re
going to make a lot of money with both paid advertising and
free advertising. |

Sell Them By NOT Pointing

We don’t try and sell them in the e-mail. We remind them of
their interest, we remind them where they visited, and we
include a link back to the site if there is some other
information we didn’t tell them. Each time we write in those
follow-ups we put something in like “oh, maybe I didn’t tell
you.” “Maybe I need to remind you.” “Maybe you didn’t
realize.” “Are you aware that the deal expires tomorrow that I
offered you? I don’t want you to miss it. You can click here
and go right to the site.”
These kinds of notes are not common. People are not
accustomed to getting them. They’re accustomed to getting
lengthy sales letters and such. So how do they respond to
these short messages? They respond as if they are personal
correspondence.
Thirty-seven percent of the messages that we send out get a
response. Now, we have to admit, that takes some time. But
they write us to tell us thanks for writing and they give us
the reason that they’re not going to buy. That’s why the
Internet, for us, is a much, much better sales tool than mail
order. We sell the same product through mail order, so it
makes a nice comparison. In mail order we don’t hear why they
don’t buy - they just don’t buy. If someone is not interested,
they’re not interested.
With the e-mail follow-up, they tell us why they’re not
interested. Thirtyseven percent of the people will write us
and say, “I’m not interested because....Or “I don’t have the
time to.... It’s too expensive for me right now.....” or they
give any number of reasons. That gives us a chance to
instantly respond to them and say, “Thanks for your note. I
realize you’re really busy, but just remember in your future
planning that it only takes 15 minutes, three days a week, to
accomplish...” whatever it is that they want to
accomplish. |

The way we look at affiliate programs is very positive, and

to spend some time finding out where the action is.
There are so many web sites today... We’re not even
interested in joint marketing with a web site that gets two
visits every week. Or five a month. We’re dealing with about

the past few months that only three of them are really sending
any orders.
It’s the 80/20 rule. The 80/20 rule says you get 80% of
your business from 20% of your customers.
Well, we’ve found the 80/20 rule really is a 5/95 rule and
that is - 5% of your customers yield about 95% of your
business in repeat orders and constant business. So what we
think you should do is isolate a few dozen super web sites who
sell items that are similar, but not identical, of course, to
what you have.
Really go after these people. You want them to recommend
your product, and you’ll pay them a nice commission of forty,
or fifty, or even sixty percent. Go after some of the heavy
hitters.
You need to give them a very, very good commission because,
if they like your product, they will promote it. You want them
to be well compensated. If you are selling information like so
many of us are, you’ve got big enough mark ups to give the
fifty and sixty percent. |

There are many different subjects - literally anything you’re

Maybe your spouse has something that they like to collect

After you’ve picked a market or a subject matter -
something you are interested in - what we would suggest you do
is search the Internet auctions and find out, to make sure,
that other people are selling those same kinds of
products.
You’ll find most products that are for sale on the Internet
auctions. There’s rarely an item or a subject matter that
won’t be represented on the Internet auctions. Just about
everything is available there.
If, for some reason, you have a very squirrelly subject
matter, some strange subject or some strange hobby that you
have that just isn’t available, you’re probably not going to
do good marketing it. There are rare exceptions to that, but
in most cases you’re not going to have success with it.
We’ve heard people sometimes tell us that they like to
search out things that they don’t see advertised anywhere
because obviously no one else is doing it so they can make
lots of money in that. But, that tends to not be the case. If
other people haven’t figured it out already, it’s probably
something that’s not going to make money for you either.
On the other hand, if you find something that lots of
people are marketing, then it’s obviously a hot subject matter
and something that you can make money with as well. If you
don’t see it advertised on the Internet auction sites, or
wherever you decide to market, then you probably need to pick
something else. Find another hobby that you have. Even if it
is something that you’re not interested in, a hot subject
matter that people are buying is a lot better than a hobby of
yours that people aren’t buying into. |

Now when we talk about fear, we’re not talking about things

fear marketing inspires is used to threaten to take away
something the prospect may want, or be very open to
accepting.
Some good examples of fear tactics used in marketing
are:
1. “We have to shorten our mailing list! If you don’t
order, we may have to drop you from the list!”
This is used to instill fear that they’re going to lose
their connection with getting products they want if they don’t
order something from the current offer.
2. “Only a limited number of these will be produced. Order
now to ensure that you get one of your own!”
This conveys the idea that there is a limited number of
product, and if the potential customer doesn’t order
immediately, they might miss out on getting one of their
own.
These are a couple of good examples of fear tactics used in
ad copy, no matter what medium. By using these sorts of
messages in your copy is how to use the power of fear to get
people to buy your products and services from your

The more you’re able to create a sense of fear in that
prospect - a feeling of dread, that if they don’t do exactly
what you say they’re not going to get that great product - The
more urgent it will be to that prospect to buy what you have
to offer.

hearing over and over is that, in order to succeed with

Well, we hate to burst these people’s bubbles - but THAT
SIMPLY ISN’T TRUE. Keeping copy short and to the point is, in
most cases, actually detrimental for sales! This is why most

asking questions.
Questions add to the impact of the copy by making it effect

“Why can this help you make more money than ever before?” The
prospect will ponder this question for a few moments in his or
her head . . . “I don’t know, why will it?” and then the copy
follows up with the answer in the next paragraph.
Questions are great for getting a prospect involved in a
piece, mentally interacting with it. To the prospect, it feels
as if it’s speaking personally to them rather than to several
thousand people, adding to the power. It makes the copy feel
immediately important since they’re actually actively thinking
about what they’re reading.

use in your copy - they’re what you can add to the end of your

When people read through sales copy, they don’t want to put
any work into it. When they get a sales letter that has huge,
unbroken paragraphs of continuous type, it looks like a lot -
and, since there isn’t any variety in the size or color of the
font, it looks boring.
If that copy looks boring or looks like a lot of work to
get through, your prospects aren’t usually going to take the
time to read through it - they’re going to pitch it in the
trash.
This is one of the reasons why every sales letter you write
should have bullets!
Bullets are, essentially, headlines WITHIN the ad copy.
They introduce the reader to new ideas that are being
presented - typically by presenting a benefit very
dramatically. They are usually used every paragraph or two.
They’re bold and they’re larger than the normal font, and
there’s usually a double space between it and the body copy
following.
Bullets are a great way to break up body copy, but they
also have other great uses in sales copy. They present big,
dramatic benefits of owning the product - and those big black
words will stick in people’s minds easier, and entice them to
read the copy underneath to find out more about the product.

It takes more than a statement of your offer to make a
prospect a cashpaying customer. You can tell them what you
have, what it’s supposed to do for them, how much it’ll cost
them, and how to order it, but that won’t bring you money
alone . . . HOW YOU SAY IT makes a huge difference!
Over the years, some really ridiculous things have been
successfully sold to smart people. Think back to the snake oil
salesmen of the nineteenth and early twentieth century. They
were selling some sort of oil in a bottle, something that was
supposed to make seemingly any and all ailments a person could
suffer from go away.
Clearly, a few minutes of rational thought would lead one
to believe that the snake oil claims were exaggeration, and
that it wasn’t worth the money to buy the junk. So why did so
many people buy it for so long?
The answer lies for the most part in how it was sold. It’s
not without reason that the day the snake oil salesman came to
town was exciting to people. It wasn’t what was sold that
caught the people’s imagination - it was how it was sold!
The snake oil salesman didn’t just stand there and say,
“I’ve got this stuff for sale. It’ll cure whatever ails ya.
Ten cents a bottle, please.” The snake oil salesman’s pitch
was more along these lines: “Yes, indeed! This amazing,
unbelievable ailment reliever comes from the deepest, darkest
forests of Africa. It was first discovered by the Yamaguchi
headhunter tribe, who extracted it from the glands of the
great anacondas. A great explorer by the name of Dr. John
Smith nearly lost his head to the tribe in order to bring this
great restorative elixir to the states, for you kind people to
buy and enjoy.
“And it certainly didn’t take Dr. Smith long to run
scientific tests and discover just what a miraculously amazing
concoction this is! This wonderful restorative can totally

The snake oil salesman was a master of emotional
manipulation. Through telling exciting stories, and using
emotionally stimulating language, he was able to capture the
people’s fascination . . . and afterward, capture their money.
Now, we’re not telling you to invent some wild fantasy to try
to get people to buy your products. That’s certainly immoral,
unethical . . . and illegal. Our focus here is on the LANGUAGE
of selling - which is the language of EXCITEMENT!
In order to maximize the sales we get, we have to excite
our prospects. We need to create marketing copy that excites
their desire, and makes them want what we have to offer!
We do this through our use of exciting words in our copy.
There’s a huge difference between . . .
“If the product does not meet your specifications, return
it for a full refund . . .”
And . . . “If you find that this incredible course simply
cannot help bring your dreams to life, simply send it back to
us and we’ll buy it back from you, no questions asked!”
It’s through using exciting words and phrases that we
excite out customers. Mr. Spock from Star Trek would not have
had much success at marketing - we have to grab people through
their emotions, their wants, their needs, their desires, and
their greed. And we are only able to do so by using exciting
words and language. Exciting words are POWER WORDS that sell!

There are many, many products that appeal to people based
on their greed - their greed for money, their greed for power,
their greed for friends, their greed for popularity.
Greed is one of the primary hot buttons we, as marketers,
use to get people to buy what we offer. They want, and they
want badly - so we offer them what they want in order to make
money. The formula is that simple.
Subconsciously, people are aware of their greed - they know
it’s a weakness, and they know that sometimes it may end up
superceding what they consider to be moral or right. People
may have some guilt that they’re taking and not putting
anything back, so to speak.
This adds another idea, another concept you can use to make
your copy that much more powerful! Show people how using your
product can allow them to help others!
If your product deals with real estate buying and selling
tactics, your prospects could set themselves up as “house
brokers,” getting clients homes for less than real estate
companies charge . . . and charging less for the service. One
good recent example we saw was a “loan brokering” program. The
program worked like this: there are many people out there who
cannot get loans from banks. On the other hand, there are many
people - businesspeople and the like - who have a lot of money
and could use the revenue from a loan, but aren’t involved in
that area.
The theory was, you could act as the loan broker between
such parties. You would set up deals between people who needed
loans and people who had the money to loan.
Then the copywriter started into how the customer would be
helping people, since there are many people out there with
nonexistent or negative credit ratings that need a chance. It
was a brilliant piece of copy!
Examples of helping people can run a very wide gamut - from
acting as a broker like above and finding resources people
want or need, to simply donating a certain amount of money
from each sale to a charity, to making products with recycled
resources. The opportunities are very wide and endless - you
just have to be imaginative.
Offers where people not only get something they want, but
get to help other people as well are very attractive to
prospects. People want to be good - they want to feel like
they’re doing good things with their life.
By showing them that they can not only get what they want
but also help get others what they want too with your product,
you create an especially enticing offer - one that’s going to
be much harder for them to turn down than if you were
appealing to their greed alone. This is how showing people
that they can help others can be incredibly

I’m now going to cover how to get thousands of people to

We are going to once again deal with e-zines. They are a
very powerful subject matter - one that can make you a lot of
money if you will use them. This is a simple trick, and you
can use it to get thousands of customers, or even tens of
thousands, or hundreds of thousands of customers to eagerly
wait to receive your e-mail every single week. In fact, they
may sit by their computer at the time they know your e-mail is
coming and wait for it!
What I am talking about here is actually giving away free
subscriptions to an electronic newsletter, or an e-zine as
they are also called. It is one of the best ways to get your
sales message out to your customers, because they actually
anticipate receiving your electronic newsletter.
I do recommend that your e-zine have content have content.
Your content can be on whatever you want it to be. It should
preferably be on a subject matter that your customers know
about and are interested in. If you are in the moneymaking
business, your e-zine can be different money making tips and
strategies. If you’re into gardening, your e-zine could be
full of gardening tips.
Whatever hobby or craft, whatever you’re interested in, or
whatever your customer base is interested in, you can have an
e-zine that is sent out to their email addresses that gives
them information about that subject matter. It doesn’t matter
what it is. There is always information you can send out to a
list of customers who are happy to receive that information by
e-mail.
One tip I have - if you think that you can’t possibly have
enough to talk about in have your own e-zine, it’s easy to
rectify the situation. You don’t even have to write anything.
There are many people that can write material for you and
provide you with material.
If you’re worried that you might not know enough to be an
expert and have your own newsletter, always remember that, as
little as you think you know, there are always a lot of people
that know a lot less than you do. There are always people out
there that are eager to learn what you have to share with them
in your electronic newsletter or e-zine.
One of the things that I recommend you do is not write the
material yourself. If you happen to enjoy writing, you are
welcome to do it, and it can be very fun and pleasurable for
you to actually sit down each week and write your ezine
yourself.
You don’t have to. You can interview different experts in
your field and either include the entire interview in your
e-zine or just include excerpts. Each week you can take
another question or two from the interview and include it in
the e-zine. Then at the end of that particular e-zine you can
say, “In next week’s e-zine you will get more of this
interview.”
You could also reprint other people’s reports, and things
you’ve found on the Internet from other people. You could use
articles other people have written that they have given
permission for use by others in their e-zines. Even if you
find a report you see on someone’s web site that you know is
valuable you can e-mail the webmaster and ask for permission
to use. All it takes is an e-mail to them saying, “I really
enjoyed your report that I saw on your web site, and I know my
customers would really appreciate it, too. I have an e-zine of
5,000 customers (or however many it ends up being).”
Simply tell them that you know your customers would really
be interested in reading that report, and you would be happy
to include a link back to their web site if they would give
you permission to include that report in your next e-zine
edition.
One thing you never want to do is reprint someone’s report
without knowing that they have given you permission. That’s
definitely wrong, and you can get in a lot of trouble for
that!
One other way you can get reports and information for your
e-zine is to actually purchase or invest in a CD Rom or a
computer disc that contains reprint rights to a group of
reports. The reports should be on a subject matter that you
are going to be using for your e-zine.
For example, there is a CD Rom called “The Instant
Publisher’s CD Rom” that is full of money making information.
It contains the reprint rights to 750 informational
reports.
If you use one of these reports a week in your e-zine, it
would take you a long time to go through all 750!
There are many ways you can get information and content for
your e-zine. The key is the e-zine is a valuable tool to help
you reach your customers, if you’ll just get out there and use
it and use these methods.
There are a couple of ways you can make money with your
e-zine. Of course, you’ll want to give it away free. In my
opinion, that’s the best way to do it, and the best way to
build the largest customer base. With each e-zine you send out
you can also include special offers and a link back to your
web site (if you have a web site).
If you don’t have a web site, you can just include special
offers and let people buy those offers from you. Chances are,
a portion of the people every week will purchase.
The second way to make money with your list is to sell
advertising to other web sites that are in your market who
want to reach your list of customers. You can sell them an ad
within your e-zine that can make you more money than actually
selling your products!
Combined with selling products, you can actually make a
substantial amount of money selling advertisement spacing on
your e-zine. You could sell your advertising in the e-zine for
$50.00 a month, or $50.00 a week. It all depends on how big
your list is and how valuable your list is. It’s up to you to
decide. You can test different prices and find out what other
web site owners are willing to pay.
We recommend that you assign a price to your e-zine. If it
is valued at free and there is no price on it, people perceive
it as being worth nothing. If you put a $99.00 value on it, or
$195.00 value, people will put more faith and more stock in
what you say, and it will come across like you are more of an
expert. This is invaluable, because people will read it more
than they would if it was a free newsletter.
You can also use other forms of advertising. Banner ads,
link exchanges, and resources like that can be used to
advertise your e-zine. You can join a link exchange where you
actually have banners all over the Internet that say, “Sign Up
For Our Free Electronic Newsletter,” or “Free E-Zine,” or “A
$99.00 Value- Yours Free, Click Here for Details or to Sign
Up,” or something like that.
You can add to your list very fast! It may seem like it
would be slow, but if you average just 25 new customers a day
signing up for your newsletter, at the end of one year you
would have 9,125 customers receiving e-mail from you every
single week. That is almost 10,000 customers in a year just by
having 25 people sign up a week!
You might have 100, you might have 50, or you might only
have 75 signing up a day. One day you might have no one
signing up, and the next day you have 50 sign up. The key is
to get your advertising out there for your electronic
newsletter - then you will get people to sign up. Just a small
number of people signing up every day can add up over a year,
and over a two to three year period you can get many tens of
thousands of people.
The greatest part of this technique is the money! If you
took those 25 new customers a day and 9,125 customers a year
and started mailing your offers to them every single week
after a year with 10% of them buying your $20.00 offer, you
would make $1,820.00 every single week!
This is a list of people who are eager to receive your
offers. You might get a 20% response. You might get a 5%
response. It’s hard to say. A lot of it depends on your offer.
If you averaged a 10% response with a $20.00 offer, though,
you would make $1,820.00 every single week.
That money would basically be coming in automatically. You
just need to get your e-zine out there! Build your content on
your electronic newsletter, and the money can come in
automatically every single week from the people that are
responding to your e-mail offers within your e-zine - and
that’s not to mention your advertising. You could also make a
good, substantial amount of money every week from the people
that want to advertise to your customers in your

Now, I’m going to show you the secret to building a
profitable opt-in email list in the fastest time possible.
This is a unique trick you can use to quickly launch your
e-mail marketing program by building your own opt-in e-mail
list super fast.
Of course, to have an e-mail marketing program, you need an
e-mail list to e-mail to. So get out there and start building
your list!
One of the things I want to cover a little bit I go into
the main topic is the fact that when I use the word “opt-in,”
we are talking about building a list of people who actually
want to receive information from you or from anybody else
whose list they happen to be on. Opt-in simply means that they
are opting to be a part of that list. They are saying they
want to receive information and special offers from you.
The opposite of opt-in is, of course, bulk e-mail or spam,
which is highly used on the Internet. You want to avoid spam.
Spam isn’t looked upon well. You should always use opt-in
lists, because you want your offers to be targeted to the
right people - the people who are the most likely to visit
your web site and purchase your products.
I am going to tell you how to build your own opt-in list
effectively and in the fastest time, but before I tell you how
to do it, I am going to tell you what to avoid and how to not
build your e-mail list in the right way.
The wrong way to build an e-mail list is to simply ask
people to sign up to be on your e-mail list. You might see a
lot of web sites out there that say, “Join our list to receive
future updates,” or something along those lines. They don’t
give you any real reason to join their list, to receive e-mail
information, and offers from them. If you have this kind of
list, you might find that you get a few responses. You might
have a few people sign up every week, but you’ll never build a
huge e-mail list in a fast time using this method.
You’ve got to give people a good reason to sign up for your
e-mail list. You’ve got to give them a reason why they should
sign up.
Why would they want to be a part of your list? There are
many mailing lists out there, and the people on these lists
get junk mail from all the time. Why would they want to sign
up for something and actually say, “Yes, please send me
something!” “Please send me offers!” “Please send me
information from you!” You’ve got to give them a good reason
to say, “Yes, please include me in your list!”
There are several good reasons you can use. I am not going
to tell you this is the right way. It is a “right way,” but it
is not the only right way. Tell them that all they have to do
is give you their e-mail address, and you will send them your
weekly or your monthly newsletter by e-mail. That’s one way to
do it.
Even if you don’t want to publish an electronic newsletter,
there are many incentives you can give to get people to give
you their e-mail address so that you can e-mail them. You can
give away a free report. The offer could be something like,
“Anyone who is willing to give their e-mail address gets a
free report,” or maybe they get a free chapter in your book,
or any series of information that you can give away free.
Maybe you can give away a complete book. Maybe you have
some other kind of free gift. The secret that you want to
remember is to give away something that has a high-perceived
value that you can deliver via e-mail or directly over your
web site so you don’t have any cost involved. In fact, most
scripts that collect the e-mail addresses can actually direct
them straight to a point on your web site where they
automatically send out the free report.
By giving your customers a reason to give you their e-mail
addresses, you’ll be able to build your opt-in list much more
quickly than if you just ask them to give you their e-mail
without any reason why.
One final tip before I finish up here. When you are asking
for their e-mail addresses, don’t just tell them that they’ll
get the free report. You should also have a box for them to
click that says they agree to receive e-mail announcements and
offers from you. That way they realize that in exchange for
you giving them the free gift or the free information, it is
only fair that they agree to receive the information and
special offers from you. Make sure you point that out right
there so they don’t look at what you are sending them in the
future as spam. |

I’m going to talk about how to get a crowd of hungry web
marketers working for you and paying you handsomely for the
privilege while making yourself rich!
I am talking about links, and in this article I’m going to
cover two different aspects of links. I am going to cover
affiliate programs and licensing marketing rights.
I’m making two assumptions. Number one, I’m assuming that
you yourself have a web site. Number two, I’m assuming that
you have a product. We’re going to be giving other web owners
in this the thing they want the most - another method to make
money.
When you have a product and a web site, you can offer
affiliate links. You give people a percentage of the profit
when they have a link on their site. Someone clicks through on
the link, comes to your site, and they purchase the product.
You, of course, have made the sale. For the advertising, you
give them back a percentage or a fixed fee - however you
decide to do it. It’s great advertising because you don’t even
pay for it until after you’ve got the sale.
Can this work, you ask? It can work great! It can work
tremendously well with free links, but it is a little bit
easier to get a bigger, broader group if you’ve got a pay
program.
Can this work? Corey Ruddle, just one of the outstanding
successes, talks publicly even. “I make over a million dollars
a year just from my affiliate programs.”
It makes sense! Why? There are millions of web owners, and
once you determine what your niche is, which, for instance, in
Corey Ruddle’s niche area, is cars. He is selling a program
dealing with cars. Still, you’ve got thousands and thousands
of web sites across the world dedicated to your program.
Now you offer to give them a percentage. There are a lot of
ins and outs of it, and I don’t have the time today to talk
about some of the them. But if you will spend a couple of
hours researching these two web sites that I’m going to give
you, you will find a lot of information.
The first one is Corey Ruddle’s site. He has a very good
associate program available for a modest fee. Go to
www.marketingtips.com/t.cgi/37658. There are actually a lot of
different programs. If you want to get a broad picture, go to
associateprograms.com. Associate programs are the same thing
as affiliate programs - you go there and check with them.
There is third-party. There is first-party. There is in-house.
Spend two hours, and these may be the richest two hours you’ve
ever invested!
Let’s move on to licensing web marketing rights for
outrageous up-front profits for an ongoing residual income.
This is a practice that we use quite frequently.
Once again, I’m assuming you’ve got a web site and a
product. You can license the right to sell your product!
It is almost embarrassing to say, and you might not believe
it, but we sell products for $1,000.00 that cost us 35 cents.
You can do the same thing! What are we selling? We are
duplicating marketing copy that people can sell on diskette.
We give them the right to sell the product. We give them the
copy and say, “Here, go put it on your web site.” That’s
$997.00 per disk!
You can do much, much more! We have friends who sell
marketing rights for up to $10,000.00! It depends on the
package and such, but we’re giving people the right to make
money.
This is what web owners want. If you have a product and web
site, you’ve made copy that you can sell to them.
So far I have only talked about the beginning. The residual
income is the greatest part, because you give them the re-sell
rights. When they purchase that product they’re going to be
re-ordering through you. You’ve given them a discount, and
that discount could range anywhere from 50, 60, 30, 45 ... you
name it. You are the one setting it up, but they order through
you, and you make a profit. |

In this article I’m going to cover what I call “The Money
For Life System.” Money for Life, for the rest of your life! I
am going to show you how you can stay home every day, put in a

This is a very simple business plan - one thing that a lot

What is this course? The basic course could consist of as
few as six audio cassette tapes. You could interview other
people, getting it on tape, and then use the transcripts of
the tape as part of your course. There should also be some
other written materials, some free bonuses, and a three-ring
binder (maybe even a couple of three-ring binders). I’ll show
you later how you can easily put that together.
Now for total costs...you can put a nice package together,
with second day air shipping, for $45.00. It sells for $490.00
and costs you $45.00!
In the Deluxe Edition you add a few more cassette tapes.
All it is is just your basic with a little more meat to it.
You throw in a few more services. That’s what most of the
people doing this are engaging in - especially special
consulting services. Those consulting services have such a
high perceived value that you don’t have to add much more to
your actual course! By using those services you can really
increase the perceived value.
Many people will take the Deluxe version rather than the
Basic version because they need help. They don’t just need
materials, they need some hands-on help, support, and
guidance. Therefore, your total cost can be as low as $75.00
or less, and yet you’re selling it for $785.00.
Now the goal is to go out there and find a hundred good
joint venture partners. Remember, this is a business plan, and
this is the goal. You are not going to reach it overnight, but
ultimately within a couple of years, you’ll want to have a
hundred good joint venture partners.
What is a good joint venture partner? In this example, it
is someone who can sell a minimum of one course a week. Some
months they might sell five or six. Some months they might
sell three. In the end, though, they average one course a
week.
You give them a link they can hook from their web site to
you to drive people from their web site to your web site, and
you give them 70% of the money. People go to their web site,
it links with yours, you make the sale, you do the follow-up
with the customer, you provide all the services, products and
the shipping, and you give your joint venture partner 70%.
Forget about all those wimpy little deals out there! There
all kinds of these programs out there. These affiliate
programs that offer 5%, 10%, or 15%. Forget about those! What
you want is to create the ultimate affiliate program! Give

In this article, I’m going to cover five amazing methods
for multiplying your online profits with zero risk. These are
things you can do to your Internet web site to immediately

1. Create two versions of your Internet
product. A lot of people say, “Look, I’ve just got
one version. Here it is for $295.00.” That’s okay, but you can
instantly increase your profits by offering a deluxe package
as well.
A friend of ours did this with a free advertising course he
was offering. He sold it for $295.00 for a long time. He
realized that he was losing a lot of money, though, by not
offering a deluxe package.
He included an additional manual that cost him about $5.00
to include with the package. He then said, “Look, if you want
the additional manual, just pay me an extra $200.00 for the
deluxe package.”
Just by adding that $200.00 deluxe package, he increased my
profits by about $30,000.00 - and all he did to advertise it
in the sales letter was just add one additional page!
Think of all the money he was losing because he just
offered a basic package! Whatever product you are working on
and selling, we recommend you think about creating two or
three different versions of that package. By doing so you’re
going to get some people that just want to stick with the
basic. Other people want to upgrade to the deluxe, and you
might even have a gold and a platinum package!
The one thing I like about creating two versions of your
product is that it allows you to get some sales from people
who want to spend a little more money, or don’t mind spending
a little more money to get a more advanced version. Perhaps
you’re sitting there thinking, “I have one product but I don’t
know what else I could add to it to enhance it and give it
more value, and to charge more.” Try stripping something away
from it and charging less! If you have a $295.00 package right
now, try taking something out and making a lower priced
package that sells for $195.00. It will just includes less of
the material you had in the previous version.
Don’t always think that you have to add something and
create a higher priced package. Many times you can take
something out. You might only include audio tapes if you have
audio tapes and a full book or course that goes along with it.
You could only include the audio tapes for $195.00 or $95.00,
and then include the whole package for the price that you’re
selling it for now.
Don’t always think you have to come up with more material.
Sometimes you can reverse that and take some items out and
sell the package for a cheaper price.
2. Turn a letter that works into a
sequence. Much of the time in print mail we just
send out one letter and that’s it. The great thing about the
Internet is you can send out sequences of letters. There is a
gentleman I know that has a web site, and he sells a product
for $1,000.00. he knows every sale is going to take some real
effort!
He has taken his proven sales letter on the Internet and he
gone back to those customers again, and again, and again with
that sales letter ... nine times at last count!
Now, he doesn’t hit them all in a week! He hits them over a
period of a month or two. Since the Internet is so inexpensive
to market with, and there are many automatic tools out there
to help, he can go back to those people nine times and get the
maximum profits possible.
Don’t just send out to people once! Turn a great letter
into a sequence of letters! Remember, e-mail marketing is
low-cost or no cost! You can do it! Sequence your e-mail sales
letters a number of times!
3. Up-sell on your Internet order
form. This is something I don’t see being done
very much, but it is a great idea. Picture this: you’ve got
the person, they want to order, they hit the submit button and
up pops another screen, “Hey! Now that you’ve ordered maybe
you’d like to add this $10.00 book ... This $20.00 audio
package ... This $100.00 video tape package.”
Do it immediately, while they’re in the buying mood! Just
add that package right after your order form. You don’t even
have to come up with your own product.
One thing a friend of ours did on his site is, as soon as
they hit that “submit” button, it took them to another page
with affiliate programs. He could say, “Hey! You were
interested in the product. Here are some affiliate programs
that deal with the same topic. Click there and go and see what
they have!”
He’s found it amazing that he could be sitting on his
computer, and up would pop an e-mail message with that
person’s order form. In the next 30-45 minutes he would get
another e-mail from that affiliate company saying, “Hey! Good
customer purchased that program for $200.00.” He had made two
sales just by offering them that other sale right after the
order form.
Try to put yourself in the customer’s mind, and think about
when they’ve already filled out the order form. How many times
have you gone to an order form and, once you’ve thought about
filling it, concluded that, “I don’t want to enter all that
information again.”
People are lazy! If you make it easy to send an e-mail
stating, “Hey! I want this, too,” then that customer doesn’t
have to enter that information again!
4. Mail more often. E-mail marketing is
low-cost or no cost. Don’t mail to your people every month,
two months, or three months. Go to them with more offers. The
more offers you go to them with, the more responsive they’ll
become. You’ll train them to look for your offers and to
purchase from you more.
5. Test raising your prices or your
fees. It doesn’t matter what you’re selling, you
need to test. Some of the best ways to find out what works or
what doesn’t work is simply by testing. You’ll never know the
best price of a product unless you test!
A friend of ours sold his free advertising course for
$195.00 for many years until he realized, “Perhaps I should
test a price of $295.00.” BOOM! He was making more money, and

The topic for now is going to be, “Nobody Wants Your $100
Bills, But You Still Can Get Rich On The Web.” This is a hot
little item reported by Marquee Target Marketing recently that
caught my attention.
In a marketing test, an Internet company ran an ad on their
site. They were prepared to give away $2,000 in one hundred
dollar bills. Here’s the ad:
“Free $100 Bill - Yes, it is true! We will send you a
crisp, new, real $100 bill if you act quickly. All you have to
do to receive this $100 bill is to pay $10.95 for overnight
delivery. Act now, this offer is legitimate but it is
limited!”
Holy cow! Guess what? Nobody took advantage of this offer!
Not one single person. They were prepared to give away a
couple thousand dollars at $100 a hit, but nobody asked for a
free $100 bill.
Now I ask you, would you spend $10.95 for delivery by UPS
or FedEx to get $100? Of course you would! I know that I
would!
Why didn’t anyone take advantage of this super offer? In a
nutshell, nobody believed the ad. Nobody thought that anybody
in their right mind would give away hundred dollar bills! This
situation comes down to trust and credibility - or the lack of
trust and credibility at any rate.
That’s the reason most people are not buying from YOU on
the Internet, or not buying from YOU often enough, regardless
of what you’re selling. You’re not selling hundred dollar
bills, but you have merchandise, products, information, and
other such items.
To increase your sales you’ve got to build trust and
credibility. Regardless of how good your ad or sales material
is, folks won’t buy unless they really believe they can trust
you. You must bend over backwards to show people you’re worth
their confidence and trust.
Here are six ways (there are more, I’m sure) to build the
kind of trust that is vital to your success.
1) Identify yourself. The web can be a
very personal or impersonal media. You want to make it
personal. Don’t hide behind a company name. If you’re A &
B Marketing because your name is Al and your wife is Bonnie,
you should display a photo of Al and Bonnie to show that you
are real live human beings. That’s who people want to do
business with.
2) Make it very, very, very easy to contact
you. List your physical address, your e-mail
address, your fax and phone. Let everyone know how easily and
quickly they can get in touch with you. 3) Whenever possible,
offer free samples.
This is easy to do if you’re selling information products.
You let people see a couple of the reports you have, or maybe
let them download a chapter from a book you have. If you’re
selling regular products this technique is a little bit more
difficult to use. Then you have to use a different
approach.
For example, if you’re selling watches that you import from
Hong Kong or Taiwan you can’t give away samples. Still, you
can have a thorough description of the product on your site,
plus one or more sharp, clear photos of the product. These
things are very important when selling merchandise!
4) Provide feedback. You want the
testimonials of other people who are satisfied with the
business they’ve done with you. Great testimonials from happy
customers build confidence and trust.
5) Offer a powerful money-back
guarantee. Leave no question or doubt in the
potential buyer’s mind - no five or ten day nonsense! Your
guarantee should be at least 30 days and it should be
absolute. It should be completely risk-free to the buyer. This
builds great confidence.

I am going to title article, “How To Build Your Own Mighty

for Internet information marketers, but it could be used by
others who use information to sell other products and

For some time now lots of info marketers on the web have
been making good sales on E-Books, E-Manuals, and E-Reports by
giving away a chapter or two of the book, or a couple of the
reports in a series of reports. Then they give the Table of
Contents, and if people like the information they got on the
chapter or two, or the report, and they like what they see in
the Table of Contents, they’ll order the product.

read correctly - four hundred thousand copies in 24 hours! In
one 24 hour period approximately 360,000 copies of this book
were given away free while another 40,000 copies were sold by
other online booksellers at $2.50 each. That means that
$100,000.00 was generated in sales from 40,000 copies sold,
while 360,000 were given away free.
The smaller dealers sold the book and that’s not too
surprising. They wanted the profits! But I think we can learn
the most from the “big boys,” and that means
Barnes&Noble.com and Amazon.com. They let people download
the book absolutely free, and 360,000 people took advantage of
this great give-away. The kudos really go to
Barnes&Noble.com on this promotion!
Barnes&Noble.com is a distant number two to Amazon.com
when it comes to online book sales, but they really did rise
to the occasion with this special promotion. They had a joint
venture with the author, Stephen King, and the publisher,
Simon & Schuster and they made online book promotion
history!
Within just 24 hours Barnes&Noble.com gave away 216,000
copies of King’s book. Now that’s big results! Hold onto your
seat belts! One hundred and fifty copies were downloaded every
minute for 2,040 minutes, which constitutes a 24 hour period!
That is really amazing!!!
Now, here is the marketing kicker that we can learn
from.
Barnes&Noble.com gave the book away free to 216,000
people. But they only gave the small book away (let them
download it) when the people first gave their e-mail
address.
Ah ha! They captured 216,000 e-mail addresses! Now, they
had some of those e-mail addresses already. But they estimate
over half of them - something like 128,000 - were people that
never did business with them before.
They promoted this with ads in USA Today, but they also got
tons of free publicity both online and offline to drive people
to their site to get Stephen King’s new book. Two hundred and
sixteen thousand copies - that’s amazing in a 24 hour
period!
If we’re information sellers, what we need to do is give
away something that people will desperately want. A booklet, a
manual, some reports - whatever - and capture those addresses.
And then go for all the free publicity offline and online.
Here’s what I am planning to do. I’ve started writing a
small manual (or you could call it a small book) with the
working title, “How To Really Get Rich With Internet
Marketing.” I am going to give it away free on my web site,
and heavily promote that fact offline and online.
In the back of the booklet or manual I am going to offer
several other of my books and home-study courses. And above
all else, I am going to capture and demand the e-mail address
of every single person whom I allow to download my booklet or
manual.
I hope you’ll put this in your pipe and smoke it! Now, it’s
not likely you’ll end up giving out 360,000 books in one
day...or maybe not even sell another 40,000. But if we could
just get a few thousand per day of our booklet, our reports,
or our manuals in the hands of people who gave us their e-mail

For example, I published an entire course on free
advertising. As I was updating it, I wanted to put some
additional information in there and really beef it up. At the
same time, I didn’t want to be stuck at the computer for the
next six months typing up things and working my fingers to the
bone.
I went to the Internet, and I found Paul Hartunion, a big
name when it comes to free publicity. I went to his website
and found that he had dozens of reports on the Internet free
for anybody to look at. I quickly e-mailed him. He said,
“Great. Please use these articles in your product. All I ask
is free mention at the end.”
The same thing happened with John Kramer who has a book
called One Thousand and One Ways To Market Your Book. I went
to his website. He also has articles and reports. Again, I
simply asked him. Remember, he’s a nationally known, big, big
name in book selling. He said, “Fine. Great. All I ask is that
you give me a free plug at the end of that article, but feel
free to include it in your package.”
Instantly I had quite a bit. I probably had an additional
fifty or sixty pages of additional information that I was able
to get instantly off the Internet. The best thing about that
is I can actually copy it right from the Internet and paste it
in a document, right into my course, without having to retype
a single thing.
All I did was I punched a few keys, copied it from their
Internet site, pasted it into mine, and boom, I had fifty or
sixty additional pages absolutely free of charge written for
me by experts. It was super simple. You can take this idea and

links at the bottom of these articles so you’ll click over to
their news services and find even more information. They give
you a little snip of the code you can plant into your website
once you’ve signed up, and, literally, the articles are
updated, changed, and modified for you.
Then, every time you go in, there’s new news popping up on
your site. Now you’ve just created an informational product
that you can literally display on the web and attract users
who come back and visit more and more often. Now, you have to
use this on your web site.
If you want to build a product off-web, there are two other
places you can go. One is www.adbility.com. This provides
syndicated content that you can also add to a web site. Many
of these will let you publish them in any form and distribute
them. This site gives you hundreds and hundreds of other sites
that you can go to in order to syndicate content that’s
free.
That you can receive by e-mail, eBay’s content, or free
contents on web sites, and all the links you need to go and
sign up for each individual one. One final good option is
world-wide info outlet. This is a collection of hundreds and
hundreds of articles right on the web site. You can browse and
pick which ones you want. Their policy doesn’t seem to
indicate that you have to post it on a web site.
You can use it on an e-mail newsletter, in a newsletter,
print magazine, or whatever you choose. The only thing they
ask is that there is a tag line at the bottom that promotes
the author and, of course, whatever web site or service they
offer or sell. You have to include that. That’s how they get
this content.
There is incredible stuff there. You can literally spend
about five hours browsing through this and put together a book
that’s written for you. Just edit, and you become the editor
compiling the product. This is one way you can tap this
incredible Internet resource to put together products that are
free of charge and at no cost to you. |

An Incredibly Simple Idea YOU

What I suggest you do if you don’t want to create a product
yourself is to go find an expert and let them write the words
for you. Now, I’m not talking about having them write a book,
or having a ghostwriter write a book for you.
What I’m talking about is finding a public speaker -
someone who speaks on a topic that you’re interested in, or a
topic that you believe that there are a lot of people
interested in, get permission from them to transcribe that,
and turn their speech into a manual.
Maybe they would say, “Sure. I have no interest in writing,
and I’ll let you do it for free.” Maybe they’ll want a cut of
the profits. You can work out some kind of arrangement there.
You’d be surprised how many speakers would be flattered that
you would even be interested in their speech, and that you
thought their speech was good enough to turn into a
manual.
A lot of public speakers, you’ll find, may not be
interested in writing at all. They may have no desire to write
and turn their speech into a transcript. Now, the proof that
this is very powerful and can work wonders for you is a man
named Mark Nolan. He turned his speech into a manual called
“Instant Cash Flow” and made 3 million dollars with it. So,
obviously, it’s something that’s a very powerful technique. If
you do it right, it can work wonders for you.
So, again, this is very simple. Find a public speaker and
get permission from them to transcribe their speech and turn
it into a manual. It’s real easy to do. There is equipment out
there that lets you actually just use your foot pedal and stop
and pause it as you need.
I wouldn’t even mess with that yourself. There are probably
people who would do it very cheaply, who can transcribe a
speech for you and put it into manual form. Then you just need
to clean it up and have a typesetter make it look real nice.
That’s real easy to do.
Here’s another take on this that you might try to do. Maybe
a half hour speech wouldn’t turn into that much transcription
and wouldn’t be a very big manual. So you could find four or
five speakers. You could compile it into a manual that might
be 200 or 300 pages, maybe even a book, where you had three or
four different chapters or sections. Each section could be on
a different speaker all related to the same topic. You could
have a big reference guide or a big book that contained all
the speeches from all of these experts.
The Secret Profit Power Of A Simple Interview!
Another thing you could do, if you couldn’t find an expert
that was actually giving speeches, is find an expert and
interview them. Write down lots of questions that you know
your customers would be interested in and love to know the
answers to. Then, just interview them.
You can transcribe that interview. You can even do audio
tapes of that interview and sell them that way. That has
worked very well for us. In fact, we interviewed Russ one
time, paid him his normal $2,500 fee for a weekend. We sat
down and interviewed him over a weekend, and I believe that
product did $1.3 million in sales.
It’s an excellent way to create products without having to
write a single word. You never have to stare at a blank page.
Have someone transcribe the speech. Turn it into a book or
manual and you’re ready to go. |

In this article I want to direct your attention to another
great source of information that is yours for the picking,
almost always absolutely free, and can be used anyway that you
want.
It’s the Consumer Information Center out of Pueblo,
Colorado. You’ve seen all the ads, the little consumer
information booklets, pamphlets, and what have you that you
can order for fifty cents or a buck. They’ve got millions.
They are basically the publishing outlet or sales outlet arm
for the federal government’s publication service.
They have a website at http://www.pueblo.gsa.gov where
you’ll find categories such as: cars, children, education,
employment, housing, health, food, money, small business,
travel, and more. There’s a button link there that actually
says “and more”. Click on these button links and you’ll find
that there are dozens of their pamphlets you can order
on-line.
You don’t have to order a thing. What’s really wonderful
about web technology is they are now making these pamphlets
and the information in them available to you to read right
on-line by clicking on the pamphlets. Many of them come in
Adobe Acrobat format, which means they’re already typeset and
looking really good.
Now here’s the secret. When it produces one of these
booklets, the federal government CANNOT COPYRIGHT THAT
MATERIAL. It is owned by every citizen of the United States.
It was produced with taxpayer dollars.
Now I want to caution you: there are some pamphlets and
information, such as some from this Consumer Information
Center makes available, that are produced and copyrighted by
various companies for the federal government. They may place a
restriction such as it being free to use only for educational
purposes. Most, however, are yours free of charge.
There’s one drawback to this information - most of it is
deadly, dry, and boring. It’s filled with the facts, figures,
and information you need from federal government agencies. You
can then wrap this information into your own products very
easily, and flesh out and use snippets of them.
In fact, what I found really fascinating is some of these
pages and online pamphlets are actually designed as very
pretty websites that stand on their own. You can literally put
together links on your website that jump to these pages and
offer the information on your website, as if it was from your
website but jump people over to that page and then come back
to your site. You would not even have to take the information,
just push people over to it.
Now the secret to making this stuff...
The reason I said it’s dry is because of what it’s missing.
The one element that I wanted to bring up that is the one
thing people most want to know about is other people. They
want information, but I think one of the key secrets is that
the real power of having other people create your product for

read an interview with Michael Dell in DM News, which is kind

Everybody knows customer service is one area that is a
constant expense, and you spend a lot of money on it. The more
you spend, the more you retain customers. Good customer
service is one of the keys to customer retention, so it does
generate additional business down the road.
The problem is, many people skimp on customer service to
cut prices and what have you. There is a way - to provide 24
hour customer service and e-mail, of course, is the answer!
Auto responders will automate it even more.
We’ll explain what auto responders are for the uninitiated
in the audience. An auto responder is the e-mail equivalent of
a fax auto responder, whereby it’s a software utility many
Internet service providers offer that allows you to set up a
series of e-mails or just even one e-mail.
When a user on the Internet sends an e-mail to a certain
e-mail address with a certain subject code on the subject line
or a certain key word on the subject line, it automatically
sends back a response. It allows you to create canned
messages, if you will, that can be sent automatically. That’s
what we recommend to many of our customers to do. We’ve seen
this happen many times, and done in the field many times. It
is wonderful.
You start tracking what questions your customers are asking
most often and just take the time to create a list of the most
frequently asked questions. This is a lot easier than it
seems. In fact, it will be a very valuable lesson for you.
Learning what your customers are wanting and needing, to begin
with is a good practice whether you’re going to use this
technique or not.
Then, take your list of frequently asked questions, and
create an auto responder message for each with a unique key
word. Then you create an individual auto responder message
that is in your menu, or a list of all the questions that you
have available and the key words and addresses that they send
the e-mail to, plus instructions on how to e-mail to get that
response.
This allows you to offer what is referred to on the
Internet as a FAQ (frequently asked questions) list that you
can generate and update frequently and make available to your
customers in all of your letters or any correspondence on your
web site, where they can just send and get a list of all
questions that can be answered.
We have seen, particularly using an auto responder, savings
of up to 50% on your customer service because now they are
getting the questions answered when they want them answered.
In the middle of the night - or whenever - and it is done
automatically without the need for additional employees.
`If you don’t want to go to the trouble of setting up an
auto-responder and all the technicalities that are associated
with that, you can also set up a simple email system yourself.
Number the e-mails, just create them and save them as text
files to match your menu, then just respond individually
yourself by cutting and pasting that answer into the
e-mail.
You can still do it yourself. It might delay the response a
little bit. They might not get it immediately because you have
to check into your e-mail.
This is a great way to get started with very little
trouble. If it’s just you getting started on the kitchen
table, for example, and you don’t have the technical expertise
or don’t want to mess with an auto-responder at the time, this
is a great way to go.
We know Internet service providers that charge a very
minimal fee like $60 a year to set up an auto-responder for
you. So it’s very inexpensive to set up and to operate. The
savings can be tremendous. And, now you can actually advertise
everywhere that you offer 24 hour round the clock customer
service and mean it. |

What a Special Book Written
by an Arizona Professor can Teach You About Getting
Rich on the Internet! |

One of the things that we want to tell you is that you need
to pick up a book. We know that this is extra homework but,
believe us, it’s homework that’s going to pay off in a big
way.
You need to pick up a book called “Influence - The
Psychology of Persuasion.” We know that it sounds dry and
boring but it’s a fantastic book we feel all marketers should
read!
Everybody who comes to us asking what some of the main
books are they should read to really learn how to make lots of
money marketing products is told to check this book out. It’s
written by Robert Cialdini, and it’s a fantastic book. Read it
once all the way through, then put it on your schedule to read
it at least five more times!
In his book, he specifically talks about the “contrast
principle.” This is how it works and how it relates to sales
letters and website sales copy. . . Let’s say you’re offering
a product in your copy. When you reach the end of your copy
you state, “This product is fantastic. It costs $26.50.”
Immediately, people are focusing on that price alone. All of a
sudden, you have to convince them that it’s worth $26.50. That
can be difficult.
However, what if you were to say the package would normally
be sold at a full retail price of $80? Then, contrast the
price that the prospect will be paying of $26.50 with that
higher “retail” price. Even though the marketer has always
planned to sell that product for $26.50, in the mid of the
prospect they’ll be getting a discount because it SHOULD sell
for a retail price of $80!
By using that one technique, you have beaten the problems
of trying to get the prospects to believe the product’s worth
$26.50 because you’ve put a retail value on it of $79. Now
they’re getting an automatic discount, even though they’re
buying it for $26.50 either way (whether or not you put that
information in there or not).
This is a very powerful concept. It’s something that you
can use with virtually any product. A lot of marketers use it.
For example, if you were just coming up with a product and you
were just going to sell it for $26.50, you could tell people
in your letter (or more specifically, in your Website) that
this is a brand new offer.
You want to test the price of $26.50 and later on down the
road, you’re probably going to be selling it for $100 or
$1,000. Or, you may create a distributorship for $5,000 or
franchise for $10,000. But, if they get it right now, they get
it for the amazing DISCOUNTED price of only $26.50. By using
that contrast principle, it makes your sales job a lot easier.

The $12,500 Nine-Step
Formula For Internet Ads That Work Like Magic! |

For this article, I would strongly suggest you read
closely. Grab a pen and notebook and take notes, because this
is going to be a very powerful article! I’m going to give you
my formula for “The $12,500 Nine-Step Formula For Internet Ads
That Work Like Magic!”
Now, I need to tell you right off the bat that this is not
my personal formula. This is a formula I received from another
famous copywriter by the name of Brian Keith Voyles. Although
this is his formula, I am going to share it with you. I
believe it is invaluable - a formula you definitely need to
use whenever you’re creating advertisements, be they for the
Internet or for mail order. This formula will work for
both!
Brian Keith Voyles is one of the greatest advertising
copywriters in recent history. He actually charges clients
$12,500.00 (last time I heard) to write just one sales package
for them. $12,500.00 may sound like a ridiculously enormous
fee, but those people and companies that have paid him that
fee realize that his ad copy makes tens of thousands - if not
hundreds of thousands or millions - of dollars in sales.
It is a proven formula that comes straight from his book,
Advertising Magic. It is called “The A-I-C-P-B-S-A-W-N” plan,
and it has nine steps - one for each letter.
Brian will admit to you that this acronym doesn’t have much
of a ring to it, but he says, “Who cares if my formula doesn’t
have a ring to it. The only thing you should worry about is
the ring of your cash register taking orders when you use this
formula.” It may not sound as clever as AIDA or one of those
sort of formulas, but copy these nine steps down, and they
will help you create ads that work like magic on the
Internet!
Step 1: A - ATTENTION. You have to say
something that gets your customer’s attention. Give them the
biggest benefit they’ll get from doing business with you. What
is the biggest problem you solve? What is the biggest benefit
of your offer? Will the customer make money? Will they have
better health? Whatever your biggest benefit is, you should
immediately put it right up front in your Internet ad to grab
the reader’s attention and pull them into your copy.
Step 2: INTEREST You need to tell your
prospects and customers why they should listen to what you
have to say. This is where you should introduce them to WIIFM,
and those aren’t radio station call letters. It’s an acronym
for the phrase “What’s In It For Me?”
Tell them what’s in it for them! Tell them why they should
pay attention. What will they get? This follows similar lines
as “Attention,” but you need to show them why they should be
interested in reading your offer, and what you can do for
them.
Step 3: CREDIBILITY You need to give
your customers and prospects a good story, and give your offer
credibility. If they don’t believe you, your offer isn’t worth
a penny. You can use testimonials, you can use other stories,
and you can use case studies to get your customer to believe
what you’re saying.
The key is, if your story sounds too good to be true, most
people are simply not going to believe it - and they’re not
going to respond. You have to give them some history behind
your story, tell them why your offer’s credible, and why they
need to believe every word you say.
Step 4: PROVE This one can be a little
bit tricky. Your testimonials can work as proof, but you can
also use proof in other ways. Testimonials have to be
believable. You can also use proven facts or case studies that
prove you are credible. Your tools are testimonials, case
studies, and proven facts.
Step 5: BENEFITS This is where you’ll
need to insert a lot of bullets. Many copywriters will tell
you that the more bullets you can have in your sales letter,
the better that sales letter will be. In fact, some sales
letters you’ll find are probably 85-90% bullets, and the rest
of it is the ad copy. Bullets are a proven way to reiterate
and show your customers the benefits of purchasing your
product or responding to your offer.
There are many different ways to write bullets, and I don’t
want to go into the actual specifics on writing bullets. There
are many books and audio programs out there you can get that
might help you if you are interested in learning how to write
bullets. The key to remember is to give the customer as many
benefits as you can!
Many times we talk about the features and the benefits.
Don’t just tell them about the features of your product - tell
them the benefits that the feature gives them! If you write
out a list of the features of your product right next to the
feature, you can actually turn it into a benefit. Then you can
insert that benefit into your Internet ad copy so that they
can see that not only is it a nice feature of your product,
but there is a benefit behind that feature, and that they can
actually benefit in all these ways by purchasing your product
or responding to your offer.
Step 6: SCARCITY You must convince
your customers and prospects that there is a reason they need
to get involved immediately! You could use things like:
- Limited Time Offers - A discount if they respond in a
limited time - Free bonuses available for a certain amount
of time - Small quantities available - Very small supply
of damaged or slightly blemished products for a steep discount
All of these things can get your customer to order
immediately, but they have to believe in the scarcity factor.
They have to believe that, if they don’t respond right away,
they’re going to miss out or could possibly miss out on a
great opportunity. If they believe it’s a product that there
is no time limit on, they’re more likely to put off ordering
it.
For example, nearly everyone knows that, any day of the
week or month, they can go to McDonalds and get a
cheeseburger, so they’re not likely to decide to do it
immediately... unless they happen to be on sale for 29 cents.
You have to do something to convince your customer that
they need to respond right away. Use those scarcity factors
that I just mentioned!
Step 7: ACTION You have to ask for the
sale. So many times I’ve seen sales letters full of good,
benefit-driven copy ... yet in the end the ad fizzles because
it doesn’t ask for the order!
You have to provide benefit-filled copy, followed by some
kind of action device to get your prospects and customers to
respond to your offer. If you don’t have this, you’re going to
lose sales!
It may seem obvious that when people see your Internet ad
they’re going to know that you’re trying to get them to buy
your product, but you actually have to take the step to ask
for it.
Step 8: WARN This goes back to the
scarcity issue. You have to warn people that there are
consequences if they do not take action and accept your offer.
If you’re selling facial creme, for example, the warning might
be that they might continue to get old and wrinkled like their
great-aunt Wilma... if they don’t use this facial creme, that
is. You can use something like that to warn them!
Go back and remind your customers and prospects of the
benefits, and then tell them again in your closing that there
is a warning. There is something that will go wrong if they
don’t buy your product! Remind them of the negatives!
Step 9: NOW You have to make sure that
your offer motivates your customer to take immediate action.
Don’t give them a way out! Don’t tell them that they can
delay! This goes back to the scarcity issue. In your closing
you have to remind them that they have to respond now if they
don’t want to miss out! They don’t want the negative effects
that come if they don’t purchase your product! You have to go
back and remind them again and again throughout the copy that
they have to respond immediately. Don’t give them a chance to
say, “No!” to your offer.
That’s “The Nine-Step $12,500 Formula For Internet Ads That
Work Like Magic.” Now, of course, you can’t just plug this
magic formula in and expect it to work. It has to be matched
with your specific offer. If you’ll make a checklist that you
actually check each time you create an Internet ad, though,
and if you’ll check these nine steps and make sure that your
Internet ads and sales letters contain each of these nine
formulas, you are going to be more successful and you’re going
to create award winning ads and sales letters for the
Internet!
That’s the nine-step formula. Again, I credit it to Brian
Keith Voyles. He’s the one who created this formula, and it’s
a real winner!
Not so long ago, the highest recommended formula was the
AIDA formula - Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action. Today,
though, many marketing experts are teaching that it takes a
lot more because of the increased competition, and because of
the fact that there are so many people out there that are
trying to get the same people to give up their money in
exchange for the products and services that you are trying to
sell. You need a stronger formula.
If you’ll look at the AIDA Formula (A-I-D-A) and you match
it with this, you’ll see that the same steps are there, but
Brian Keith expanded them, took each one, and broke it up into
just a few more steps so you can really define what it is
you’re trying to sell and go through the selling process
better and more completely.
I would recommend that you should read every piece of sales
copy you write nine times and make certain it matches up with
this formula. Use this as a checklist. Each time you read
through the piece, be looking for Point 1, Point 2, Point
3...checking the credibility of a third reading. “In Point 4
did I prove the offer? Have I proven my statements? Have I
proven the worth?” and so on throughout all of the piece and
all of the steps.
Now, going back to bullets for a moment ... bullets are
essentially a tease. A bullet is saying, “I know something
that you don’t know.” When you think of it that way, bullets
become a very powerful sales tool, because if you can keep
thinking of things that your product says that your reader
doesn’t know, it is adding fuel to the sales process.
Try to view the sales process as a see-saw. If the reader
reads a bullet and he knows the answer to it, he puts it on
one side. If he doesn’t know the answer to that bullet, he
puts that on your side of the see-saw. As he reads down your
bullet list, the more he puts on your side that he doesn’t
know, the higher the chance that, when he gets to the end of
all your bullets - “WOW!” - he just has to have your product,
because you’ve just brought up so many things that the reader
doesn’t have the answer to.
When you construct your bullets, make certain you have some
really tantalizing bullets there. With them, you’re
essentially saying, “Hey! Do you know this? I know. I’ve got
the answer.” If you get enough of those, you’ve just made your
sale. I think that’s why bullets are such powerful copy on the
Internet. I received a direct mail piece a while back that
said, “Read this or die!” I tell you, I couldn’t throw it away
and I started to read it. It was an offer for a health
newsletter talking about little known cures and such.
On the world wide web - and especially where e-mail is
concerned - people are in such a hurry that you have to catch
their attention. You have to literally hit them over the head
with a hammer of a headline! Something like “Read this or
die!” is going to get most people to read it at first glance.
And, of course, there are hundreds of other ways to do this
without talking about death, but I think it is important that
your headline capture your prospects’ and/or customers’
interest immediately! |
