The more you massage their ego, the more likely they are to work with you. If you visit their site, look at it and see how it’s laid out. Talk to them a little bit about that. Tell them how impressed you are with their website and you would like a moment of their time to ask them a few questions that you can share with your customers and your visitors. The key is to search out websites that are in the market that you are in. This is so you have people (when you’re advertising and when you’re telling people about these interviews on your website) that it’s an interview with a person who they would be interested in hearing an interview from.

Again, we think that the best way to do this is to not list entire interviews. However, you could probably go back and archive them after you’ve gone ahead and published the entire interview. Maybe, if you’ve interviewed a certain website owner and you have ten pages worth of interview notes, maybe you only publish one page at a time. Maybe you could publish a page a day, or maybe publish a couple three pages every week.

Tell people that this is not the entire interview. Come back next week or tomorrow to get more secrets and to learn more from this interview or to read another couple of pages or whatever you end up doing. That’s just one thing you can do with this idea.

Another take on this would be to turn the interview into audio tapes that you could give away. You could put them together in a package and sell them or make an audio newsletter. Each interview you do could be made into one audio tape. You could give them away. Maybe people would pay you a couple of dollars for shipping and handling on the tape. Maybe on the outside of the packaging you could list your website.

Then, of course, on the interview you could mention that you are the owner of such and such a website and give your website address throughout the interview or at the beginning and end of the interview. Use it as a vehicle to bring people to your website, also.

Again, it sounds like maybe it’s an idea that would take a little time, and the energy would be spent in e-mailing and talking to the people and interviewing them. It’s something that we think could really drive sales and people to your website. People are interested in hearing success stories and hearing from other Internet marketers and website owners who have been successful. They like to hear those stories. It is kind of like the Chicken Soup books. They’ve done so well because they’re just these stories about people on various topics. We think that it would really help people identify with you and your website and it could really help drive sales your way.

One of the most powerful ways to attract potential prospects to your website is through contests. In direct marketing in print, contests are a very powerful tool to be used, but they can require a lot of planning and promotion.

The same thing is rarely true with Internet contests! Why? With a contest based in print, you have to advertise it - this costs money. And if you’re a new company just starting to get on your feet, you might not have enough money to promote that contest in the big national publications with the most subscribers.

Even sending out postcards or other direct mailings to your customers informing them you’re having the contest will cost you some money.

When you’re operating a contest from your website, there are many more low-cost options to promoting it! Where To Find Products That Aren’t Just Worth A Fortune - But Worth Their Weight In GOLD!

Ray, A friend of ours, owned a cafe in San Diego, then moved to a suburb of Denver, Colorado. Recently in the past few months, his mother and father both passed away within 2 days of each other. It was a double funeral.

He put it all up for bidding on the auction sites. He sold thousands of dollars worth of stuff because Dad had stacks and stacks of these old newspapers and magazines that people collect! Here is a twist that gives you high quality content to offer other web sites - and it’s not really going to cost you anything. In fact, it is going to make you money!

First of all, you need to decide on one or two topics (subject areas) that really interest you. It should be something that you enjoy reading about. Let’s look at small business home office operations as an example. If small business home office operations are really interesting and fascinating for you, then go out and make a list of the best selling books in that subject area right now that are in the book stores or just coming out. Get copies of those books! While you’re at it, make arrangements to become a book seller. If you don’t know how to do that, you can contact the American Book Sellers Association. They have some nice handbooks and literature that tells you exactly how to do this.

Why make arrangements to become a bookseller? You want to do is be able to buy the books that are selling well at wholesale prices! Now, I am going to show you how you’re going to sell those books very effectively.

So now let’s assume you have these basic books. You find them interesting. Now you need to sit down and read them. That’s why I said you need a subject area that interests you!

You read the books, then you extract the key ideas from each of those books. You are going to look for 20 - 30 ideas in each of those publications that are standouts. It could be a surprising piece of information, or a piece of information that is really thought provoking. It could be a piece of information that could save someone a lot of money, or something that was very interesting and witty.

You are going to write these out in short paragraphs of two to four sentences and put them in little attractive blocks so they can easily be inserted on a web site. Then you are going to take each one of these and create a headline that is appropriate for what the paragraph is about, such as how to reduce your printing costs 15%. End your paragraph, and below that put the signature that says the name, the author, and the book it was taken from. So far, so good, but how are you going to make your money?

You are going to contact web sites that would be interested in this particular market, which would be web sites that are focused on home businesses and small business operators. Then you’re going to offer them one of these blocks of type every single week at absolutely no charge. Most of them will jump for it!

How are you going to make your money? At the bottom of that tip or paragraph is a link, and it says, “For more - click here.” They are reading along the paragraph, they see something that is really interesting and fascinating, they get to the end and it tells them what book it’s from, and it says, “For more - click here.”

Most people are going to assume it means they can get more information on the subject. When they click, though, it is going to take them to your web site - and not just a front page web site. It is going to take them to a page you set up at your web site which is actually a page about that book. You’re going to use an illustration that you either scan from the cover yourself, or “steal” from Amazon.com, which you put on your site.

If you’d like to have an overview on your web page describing the book, it’s very, very easy to find the information ... just look at the book’s jacket! If the book is hardcover and comes with the paper cover - known as a “dust cover” - the inside flaps will have information on what the book is about, quotes from reviewers, and author information.

Your next task is to create your order form so they can order the book directly from you. You don’t have to stock the books. You can stock the books if you want to, but instead you could probably make arrangements with booksellers and distributors to do the drop shipping for you.

Essentially, you set up a selling machine where all the content you’ve created is essentially a banner ad on other sites - hundreds of them that are bringing sales to you. These banner ads take the prospects directly to the page where they make the order, and you have a page for each book that you’re promoting. This is a true selling machine!

The first question that may come to your mind is, “How in the world am I going to compete with Amazon.com?” The answer lies in the fact that you can’t lose money as fast as they can.

Perhaps you can’t offer your books as inexpensively as Amazon.com. You should remember, though, that in many cases people don’t buy because of the price. People buy because of convenience! This fact has been demonstrated over and over on the web.

You give your prospects information. They click on the link, come right to your page, see the information about the book they want, and then all they have to do is order it right then and there! They’re not going to leave your page to go looking for a site they can get the book from cheaper. They’re going to buy it right there!

We recently read an interview with Michael Dell in DM News, which is kind of the Bible of the direct response industry. Michael Dell was saying that 88% of the money they’re spending to get people to go to their web site was off-line advertising -Television, radio, and print. Here’s a guy that’s selling ten or twelve million dollars worth of computers a day on-line. He’s spending almost nine dollars out of every ten to advertise off-line!

Five Things You Can Do Once You Have Your Interview.

We’ve come up with five different things you can do once you have the interviews. Again, really there is no limit to how many you do. If you wanted to find five web site owners to interview - if you wanted to find ten, twenty, however many you feel comfortable with, and if you target one specific market area, you’ll find that you’ll have more success selling them as a group.

The first is to put the interview in digital format, available for immediate download. You can have a digital/audio file right on your web site, so when people go to the web site, they click on the interview, and maybe they read a little portion of the transcript, or maybe they even hear a sample.

They hear a small sample - maybe it’s a 30 minute interview and you’ve got five minutes of the interview as a digital preview file so people can click it and instantly hear. Then they can go ahead and buy the entire interview, and immediately have it downloaded to their computer, so they can listen to it any time they want to.

The second idea is Compact Disc’s. Again, a lot of people are putting information on C.D. as well. So you can not only have audio in computer format, but you can also have C.D.’s that people can purchase and get something to play in their car or around the home.

The third idea is written transcripts. This is something that we’ve been successful with before. It’s where you actually take the transcript from an audio version and put it into print so that people can have something to follow along with. Again, when it is written, you can also make it in digital format and available on the Internet. Maybe people can not only get the digital audio version, but they also get the digital printed version to download at the exact same time so they can read it at their leisure.

The fourth idea is something that I know has been successful for some people - an ongoing interview of the month. Instead of actually selling several interviews as a package, you could do one a month and people sign up almost like a newsletter, except it is an audio newsletter.

Each month you send out a new interview, and perhaps the transcript of it to people who have paid to receive it. Each month they get a new interview and you could keep that going on as long as you find new people to interview. There are thousands and thousands of successful web sites out there, so your material could be virtually endless.

The fifth way is an interesting way. The more we think about it, the more it sounds like something that could be very successful for someone who wanted to do it. Develop an interactive C.D. You also show, right on the C.D. a picture of that person’s web site. Maybe you even have the web site actually saved on the C.D. so that people not only can hear the interview and read the interview, but they can also see the person’s web site, and you can actually use it as a teaching tool. People can see how to develop their own web sites, based on the success of this other person that you’ve interviewed.

Those are just five quick ideas. If you can work with audio cassette tapes and interview other people, it gives you a tremendous opportunity to create products without having to write a single word.

Pretty soon I’ve got a hundred of these that I’ve never read and I just delete them. You want people to be so excited that they will take a moment to read through it, or print it off and read it later.

The second way to get people into your e-zine is to offer original content that they can’t get anywhere else. I believe having original content on your e-zine that is cutting edge and brand new information is important.

One of the challenges with e-zines is they’re having a difficult time writing original content every single week. So they go out and they have some authors contribute to their e-zines. What you find now is you might subscribe to ten e-zines and they all have the same articles.

That’s not exciting to people! If you’ve got the same old run of the mill articles in your e-zine that everybody else has, why would anybody want to open up yours and read it? They can go read another one and get the exact same content.

You need to make sure, whether it’s just a paragraph, a tip, or a whole article, that you’ve got some original content in your e-zine that people can not get anywhere else.

Number 3 - You might have a quiz or trivia in your e-zine. You might have a quick question about whatever your niche is that you are serving. You might have a trivia that you might answer way down at the end.

People like this type of thing. It is kind of a brain teaser. I wouldn’t just throw it in there arbitrarily - you definitely want to have it focused on what your niche is interested in. Number 4 - You want to offer news related to your e-zine topic. People are so busy right now that if you can take some of the hottest headlines from your niche market and include them in your e-zine, they’re realizing that you are offering them a separate service.

They now don’t have to go out to all these different web sites serving their market. They can now go to your e-zine, open it up when they get it, and you’re going to have the top things that they need to know in their market. That is a great service and it gets people to read your e-zine.

Number 5 - You might have a poll or a survey. This is great for product development. You ask them their specific buying habits. You ask them what they like and what they don’t like. You ask them different things that would interest them, have them respond, and then in the next issue you publish the results.

People are going to read that next issue after they’ve responded to a poll or survey because they want to know what the results are. This is a great way to create products, because you can ask people, “What is your one major problem in this market?” If you find that 80% of the people have the same problem, you can create a product to solve that problem and sell it to those people who are now subscribing to your e-zine. That cannot only be a great way to get people involved in your e-zine but also to also create products.

Number 6 - Jokes. People like jokes. I wouldn’t use humor excessively. You might at the very end of your newsletter offer just a quick joke of the day, or something that is funny that they would be interested in. A little bit of humor in an e-zine never hurts, but you don’t want to over-do it.

Number 7 - Free stuff. People love things that are free, and if you offer maybe one hot free thing that your niche market would be interested in in your e-zine, people are going to open that up to find out what freebie they are going to get this week.

There are a lot of things out on the Internet that are free. Believe me, in just a few moments of searching, you can have a list of ten, or twenty, or thirty things that are absolutely free of charge for your niche market. You only have to offer maybe one, two, or three every single e-zine issue and people are going to want to open it up and find out what it is.

Number 8 - Recommended web sites. There are so many web sites on the Internet right now that you’re going to give your e-zine subscribers a great service (you’re going to do them a great service) if you will offer them five recommended web sites every single issue of your e-zine.

You’ve got to remember, people are constantly bombarded with web sites, so they go to the search engines, they do a search, and 100,000 web sites pop up, and they’re not sure which ones to go to. If you do a little bit of searching and offer a service where you say, “Look, open up the e-zine. Here towards the end there are five of the hottest recommended web sites for this week.” you’re going to get a lot of people opening up that e-zine. Remember, that is what you want them to do. Looking for the e-zine, opening it up, and reading through it to get information.

Number 9 - You always want to offer a teaser for the next issue. You want to give them a reason to look for the next e-zine. I am amazed that people don’t do this more often because once they’ve read that e-zine issue, it is a good possibility that when the next one comes up they might remember what you offered in the previous one.

“In the next issue we’re going to give you the seven hottest tips for this and the six hottest tips for this.” and, “We just found an amazing freebie for free software that normally costs you $100.00.” If you do something like that, it is going to stick in their brain and they’re going to look for that next issue and be very excited about it versus, “I’ve got 100 e-zines here. Which ones should I pick?”
